Senior SDET, QA Engineer
Description
Angel is changing the future of American entertainment and is one of the fastest-growing distributors in America. Our library of light-amplifying stories has grown 10x in under 2 years. Gone is the old model where the deepest pockets pick the stories we share. Angel restores choice to our 2+ million guild members, who decide what we produce, what we take to theaters, and most importantly what parents bring into their homes. Check out .
Opportunity
Angel's theatrical releases succeed when fans show up on opening weekend, and the Theatrical team builds the product that gets them there. Our ticketing experience makes it easy for fans to find a showtime and buy tickets, and it gives marketers and ad buyers clear insight into what's driving sales, so every campaign dollar works harder.
The stakes are real, and release dates don't move. A bug on opening weekend costs ticket sales and corrupts the data marketers depend on. We're looking for a Senior SDET to champion quality for both audiences: the fans buying tickets and the marketers making decisions from what we report. You'll also help a fast-growing team build, test, and ship with confidence.
Why Join Angel?
- High-Growth Company: Angel is one of the fastest-growing media companies, with record-breaking independent theatrical releases and millions of streaming users worldwide.
- Massive Impact: Your work will shape how audiences experience the stories they love, and help amplify light around the globe.
- Extreme Ownership: We are a team of owners and entrepreneurs. This is your chance to operate like a startup founder inside a fast-scaling media company.
- Mission-Driven Culture: We strive to amplify light in everything we do. Join a team that deeply cares about the impact of the stories we tell.
- Future of Streaming: Help build a streaming platform that competes with giants, without playing by their rules.
What You'll Do
- Own end-to-end quality for theatrical flows. Define what "working" means from the fan's point of view: browsing showtimes, seat selection, checkout, and confirmation, on web, iOS, and Android.
- Build web E2E automation the team trusts: Browser tests that run on every PR and gate releases.
- Cover theatrical flows in the Angel app. Work within the mobile team's Revyl-based testing to automate ticketing journeys on iOS and Android.
- Strengthen test environments. Partner with DevOps and other teams on stable, production-like environments for E2E testing, with seeded test data, payment-provider test modes, and stubs for services we don't own.
- Follow bugs across boundaries. When a flow breaks, trace it through the app, the federated graph, background jobs, and queues to the team that owns the fix.
- Be customer support's partner in engineering. Respond quickly to support questions and bug reports, reproduce what fans hit, route issues to the right team, and turn recurring problems into test coverage.
- Keep watch on system health with Datadog. Build dashboards and monitors for the ticketing funnel, and use RUM, logs, and traces to spot regressions early and investigate issues in production.
- Turn manual work into repeatable process. Find the manual verification and release steps around theatrical launches, and automate them or reduce them to a short checklist with clear owners.
- Validate what's easy to miss: payments, feature-flagged experiences and experiments, analytics events, and localization.
- Partner with marketing. Work with marketers to make sure campaign launches, promo codes, tracking, and attribution work as expected, and that the data they rely on is accurate.
- Harness AI. Use AI tools to write and maintain tests, explore flows, and triage failures, and share what works with the wider org.
- Build bridges across teams. Connect Theatrical with the teams we depend on: platform, DevOps, mobile, and other graph owners. Align on shared environments, test data, and release coordination so cross-team issues surface early and get resolved quickly.
What Success Looks Like
- Theatrical releases ship on time and with confidence.
- Fans rarely hit a broken ticketing flow, and when one slips through, we catch it before they report it.
- The team trusts the test signal and doesn't try to work around it.
- Support gets fast, clear answers, and the same issue rarely comes back twice.
- Manual work shrinks as the team scales instead of growing with it.
- Other teams see you as a partner they want to work with.
What You'll Need
- A builder's mindset with a bias for quality. You're excited to modernize how a high-stakes purchase flow gets tested.
- A fan's-eye view. You test the way real people buy tickets, not just the way the code is structured, and you treat every support report as a lead worth chasing.
- A systems thinker. You can follow a failure from a button click through APIs, queues, and databases to its source.
- A bridge builder. You get things done with teams you don’t manage, from engineering and DevOps to marketing and customer support, and you leave those relationships stronger.
- AI-native. You already use AI in real engineering work and can point to results.
- Strong ownership. You spot gaps in coverage, define a plan, and execute it end to end.
- A clear communicator. You can explain a test strategy, present tradeoffs, and partner across engineering, product, and design.
- Relentless attention to detail. You notice what others miss.
