Senior Security Analyst, Detection & Response

Summary

Lead cybersecurity incident response, threat hunting, and security monitoring for a distributed organization, optimizing SIEM/EDR tools and guiding remediation across cloud and infrastructure environments.

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Security Analyst, Detection & Response based in the United States.

This is a high-impact cybersecurity role focused on protecting a complex, distributed organization and its business units.
You will lead security investigations, incident response, threat hunting, and security monitoring across diverse environments.
The role combines hands-on technical analysis with opportunities to improve detection capabilities and security operations.
You will work closely with infrastructure, cloud, application, and business teams to contain threats and strengthen defenses.
You will also help optimize SIEM and EDR technologies, reduce false positives, and improve detection fidelity.
As a senior member of the security team, you will provide guidance during high-severity incidents and influence broader security improvements.

Accountabilities:

  • Lead investigations and response activities involving security alerts, cybersecurity incidents, phishing attempts, malware, suspicious activity, and other threats across the organization and its business units.
  • Coordinate with infrastructure, cloud, application, and business teams to contain, remediate, and recover from security incidents.
  • Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation and provide technical leadership during high-severity security events.
  • Conduct threat hunting and proactive security analysis to identify emerging threats, indicators of compromise, and potential vulnerabilities.
  • Tune and optimize security alerts across monitoring platforms to improve detection fidelity and reduce false positives.
  • Develop, maintain, and continuously improve incident response procedures, playbooks, workflows, and operational processes.
  • Provide recommendations to business stakeholders on security risks, control improvements, remediation priorities, and defensive measures.
  • Support employee security awareness through recurring phishing simulation and awareness campaigns.
  • Assist with the implementation, maintenance, and operationalization of security technologies, including SIEM and EDR platforms.
  • Analyze incident and alert trends to identify systemic security issues and recommend strategic improvements.
  • Contribute to major cybersecurity initiatives, acquisitions, integrations, and other cross-functional security projects.
  • Requirements:

    • 4+ years of experience in Information Technology, or 2+ years of hands-on experience specifically focused on incident detection and response.
    • Practical experience investigating and responding to security events and cybersecurity incidents.
    • Solid understanding of computer systems, infrastructure, cloud environments, and common security attack vectors.
    • Familiarity with AWS, Microsoft Azure, and/or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
    • Knowledge of common defensive security controls and how they are applied to protect enterprise environments.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to break complex technical challenges into actionable tasks.
    • Demonstrated ability to identify security risks, investigate technical issues, and develop practical remediation approaches.
    • Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
    • Experience with security monitoring and technologies such as SIEM and EDR is highly valuable.
    • Relevant certifications such as vendor-specific security certifications, Blue Team certifications, or CompTIA Security+ are a plus.
    • Ability to work effectively in a high-pressure environment and provide leadership during critical security incidents.
