Senior Security Engineer
Summary
Senior Security Engineer owning Kordia's Microsoft Azure and Sentinel platforms, performing detection engineering, incident response, and customer consulting for managed security services.
Job Description
Kordia is a leading provider of innovative technology solutions. For more than 65 years, we’ve been helping keep New Zealanders and their businesses safe, connected, and prepared for the future. We work across New Zealand, Australia, and the Pacific, delivering mission-critical technology in cloud, cyber security, broadcasting, maritime communications, critical communications infrastructure, and more.
Ko tā mātou mahi – About the Role
We’re looking for a Senior Security Engineer to take technical ownership of the cloud and security platforms behind Kordia’s managed security services.
This is a hands-on senior role spanning Microsoft Azure, Microsoft Sentinel, detection engineering and incident response. You’ll design and improve security capabilities, lead the onboarding of customer data and integrations, and help ensure our platforms remain secure, resilient and scalable. You’ll also be a senior escalation point when complex security incidents require deeper technical expertise.
There’s a strong customer and commercial dimension too. You’ll contribute to consulting engagements, advise customers on strengthening their security maturity, and bring technical credibility to solution design and pre-sales conversations. It’s an opportunity to combine deep engineering expertise with customer impact, technical leadership and the continued evolution of Kordia’s managed security services.
Ko tō mahi – What you’ll be doing
Reporting to the Security Engineering Lead within Managed Services, you’ll provide specialist expertise across cloud engineering and cyber security. You’ll own and continuously improve key Microsoft security platforms while supporting incident response, customer engagements, service development and the growth of technical capability across the team.
What you’ll be responsible for:
Nā tōu rourou – What you will bring
Nōu te rourou – Why Kordia?
Here, you’ll work on meaningful, real-world cyber challenges, protecting organisation’s and critical services across New Zealand and beyond. Your expertise will directly influence how threats are detected, incidents are handled, and security services evolve.
We offer a competitive salary, matched superannuation up to 5%, insurance benefits, and additional leave entitlements. We also support flexible working, with a hybrid model that balances time in the office with working from home.
Our preference is for a Wellington-based candidate, however we would consider strong applicants from Christchurch or Auckland.
