Senior Service Designer

Leads service design activities for government digital projects, mapping complex services and applying GDS principles and standards.

Requirements:- We are looking for three experienced Senior Service Designers with strong service design and human-centred design capability.
- We need experience working in multidisciplinary teams.
- We require a sound understanding of Government Digital Service principles, the Service Standard and the government service delivery lifecycle.
- We will lead service design activities within multidisciplinary delivery teams.
- We will understand and map complex services across users, operations, policy, technology and data.
- We will work closely with User Researchers, Product Managers, Business Analysts, Delivery Managers, Architects, Engineers and subject matter experts.
- We will map current-state journeys, operational processes, hand-offs, pain points and dependencies.
- We will develop future-state journeys, service blueprints, workflows and service concepts where required.
- We will translate research and evidence into clear user needs, design opportunities and actionable recommendations.
- We will plan and facilitate workshops, co-design sessions, focus groups and stakeholder discussions.
- We will create clear visual and written artefacts that communicate complex service problems and opportunities.
- We will prototype and test service concepts at an appropriate level of fidelity.
- We will work iteratively, using evidence to challenge assumptions and reduce uncertainty.
- We will identify risks, constraints and dependencies affecting service feasibility and delivery.
- We will champion accessibility, inclusive design and user-centred ways of working.
- We will communicate confidently with senior stakeholders and support evidence-based decision-making.
- We will contribute to knowledge sharing, handover and continuous improvement across the wider team.

We are hiring three Senior Service Designers for long-term public sector transformation programmes. The roles are inside IR35, paying £425-£450 per day, with a hybrid arrangement requiring 1-2 days a week in London and an ASAP start in August. These positions will be part of multidisciplinary teams working on complex service design challenges.
