What's In Store For You
- Engagement: W2 only (no C2C/1099)
- Work model: 100% onsite in Columbus, Indiana
- Standard schedule is Monday through Friday, approximately 8:00 AM–4:00 PM
- Some weekend overtime will be required, so weekend availability is essential
- Opportunity to take ownership of site-level quality improvement initiatives and provide technical guidance across manufacturing operations
- Exposure to dimensional engineering, automotive quality systems, metrology, process improvement, and customer-facing quality activities
How You Will Make An Impact
- Lead quality and continuous-improvement initiatives designed to reduce defects, scrap, rework, and manufacturing variation.
- Support compliance with automotive quality requirements, including IATF 16949, APQP, and PPAP.
- Apply GD&T principles to dimensional analysis, part validation, and manufacturing-quality investigations.
- Use metrology and 3D measurement technologies to evaluate product conformance and support root-cause investigations.
- Lead structured problem-solving efforts using tools such as 8D, 5-Why, and Ishikawa analysis.
- Provide technical support for SPC, MSA, Gage R&R, control plans, and process capability activities.
- Partner with manufacturing, tooling, engineering, suppliers, and customers to resolve nonconformities and manage product or process changes.
- Coach less-experienced team members on automotive quality methods, core tools, and disciplined problem-solving practices.
Do You Bring Proven Success in Automotive Quality Engineering and Core Tools?
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Approximately 2–5+ years of manufacturing quality engineering experience, preferably within automotive or similarly regulated high-volume manufacturing.
- Strong hands-on knowledge of GD&T.
- Practical experience with APQP and PPAP.
- Working knowledge of VDA FMEA/FMEA methodology.
- Strong understanding of MSA, Gage R&R, SPC, and control plans.
- Familiarity with automotive quality systems such as IATF 16949.
- Experience interpreting dimensional data and working with metrology or measurement systems.
- Ability to perform structured root-cause analysis and drive corrective actions through closure.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical quality findings to engineering, manufacturing, leadership, and customers.
- Ability and willingness to work onsite and support weekend overtime when needed.
Preferred experience includes:
- PolyWorks or comparable 3D metrology software.
- CMM programming or 3D scanning.
- Lean/Six Sigma methodologies.
- Welding processes or manufacturing-process quality.
- Design of Experiments.
- Minitab or advanced Excel statistical analysis.
