About Akrites
Akrites is a coordinated effort to remediate and disclose vulnerabilities in critical open source software. As part of this effort, we are deploying a pipeline to process large volumes of vulnerability reports, from intake to assessment and disclosure. Join our team to help secure open source software at this critical moment in time.
Role Overview
Your responsibilities will focus on the Akrites vulnerability processing pipeline and its surrounding services. There is a significant security component to this work, on both the operational and design side. We need an SRE who is knowledgeable and conscientious about security given the nature of the pipeline and Akrites itself.
Here's what our SRE team does:
Securely deploy applications
Maintain and evolve operational infrastructure
Help design deployment and infrastructure policies and procedures
Develop software that improves automation and security in our infrastructure
Contribute to open source projects we depend on
Commit to improving ourselves and the services we provide — we teach each other and learn from our mistakes, often through blameless post-incident reviews
Note: There is no on-call rotation at this time, though one may be introduced in the future. Should that need arise, we will institute a system that protects quality of life and prevents burnout

Ability to prioritize effectively and maintain awareness of competing work streams
Consistent upholding of security and audit requirements, with the ability to help shape standards others are held to
Experience leading incident response, including driving blameless post-incident reviews that lead to lasting fixes
Comfortable serving as a point of escalation when problems are unclear or decisions are stuck
Comfortable mentoring or reviewing the work of more junior engineers
Excellent written, verbal, and collaborative communication skills
Reliable time and task management
