The opportunity

We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer to help take OpenCare’s technology to the next level.

You’ll solve complex problems, build scalable products and help shape our technical direction. From architecture and hands-on development to AI-assisted engineering and mentoring, you’ll have real ownership and the opportunity to influence how we build and deliver software.

Working closely with product, business and development teams, you’ll help create secure, reliable and maintainable solutions that deliver meaningful outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Technical Leadership: Drive technical decisions, architecture and engineering standards.
• Full-Stack Development: Build and maintain scalable Node.js and React applications.
• Backend Engineering: Develop secure APIs, integrations and backend services.
• Frontend Engineering: Deliver performant, maintainable and accessible React applications.
• AI-Assisted Development: Use AI tools to write, review, test, debug and refactor code, improving productivity without compromising quality or security.
• Code Quality: Lead code reviews and uphold engineering best practices.
• Testing: Implement automated testing to ensure software quality and reliability.
• Security: Apply secure development practices to protect applications, data and infrastructure.
• DevOps and Deployment: Improve CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation and cloud infrastructure.
• Production Reliability: Troubleshoot issues and improve system performance and resilience.
• Technical Planning: Translate business requirements into technical solutions and delivery plans.
• Collaboration: Partner with product, design and business teams to deliver customer-focused solutions.
• Mentoring: Guide developers and promote knowledge sharing.
• Innovation: Evaluate emerging technologies and AI tools to improve engineering practices.
• Technical Ownership: Own solutions from design and development through to deployment and ongoing improvement.

Qualifications and experience

• Significant software engineering experience delivering production-ready applications.
• Strong proficiency in Node.js, JavaScript/TypeScript and React.
• Experience designing scalable systems, RESTful APIs and software integrations.
• Proven competence using AI coding tools to write and review code, identify bugs and vulnerabilities, refactor solutions, and validate AI-generated code for accuracy, security and quality.
• Strong understanding of software architecture, automated testing, code quality and secure development.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, automated deployments and production support.
• Ability to lead technical decisions, solve complex problems and mentor developers.
• Relevant qualifications in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience with building and hosting applications in AWS and Azure environments

Experience in healthtech, digital health or other environments where privacy, security and reliability are critical will be highly regarded.
