Senior Software Developer – Healthcare Compliance Systems

Position Summary:

The Senior Software Developer will be responsible for maintaining, enhancing, and developing new features for our enterprise healthcare compliance management platform. This mission-critical system serves educational institutions nationwide in managing student immunization records, compliance tracking, and regulatory reporting. The successful candidate will work with legacy and modern technologies in a regulated healthcare environment requiring strict adherence to HIPAA and other compliance standards.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

Software Development (60%):

• Design, develop, test, and maintain complex web applications using C#, .NET Framework 4.8, .NET 9, ASP.NET Web Forms, and MVC
• Create and optimize database structures, stored procedures, and queries in SQL Server
• Develop and maintain RESTful APIs and SOAP services for system integrations
• Implement front-end functionality using TypeScript, JavaScript, jQuery, and Bootstrap
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following established coding standards

Healthcare System Integration (20%):

• Integrate with state immunization registries and external healthcare systems
• Process and parse HL7 healthcare messaging standards
• Implement secure data exchange protocols and file transfer systems
• Ensure all healthcare data handling meets HIPAA compliance requirements
• Collaborate with healthcare partners on technical integration requirements

System Architecture & Performance (15%):

• Participate in system architecture decisions and technical design reviews
• Optimize application performance, including database query optimization and caching strategies
• Implement and maintain Redis caching solutions
• Monitor system performance using Application Insights and other monitoring tools
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues in production environments

Collaboration & Documentation (5%):

• Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members
• Create and maintain technical documentation and system specifications
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including QA, DevOps, and Product Management
• Participate in agile development processes and sprint planning

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, information technology, or related field
• OR equivalent combination of education and professional experience

Experience:

• Minimum 5 years of professional software development experience
• Minimum 3 years of experience with C# and .NET Framework development
• Minimum 2 years of experience with SQL Server database design and development
• Experience with ASP.NET Web Forms and/or MVC framework
• Experience working in regulated industries (healthcare, education, or financial services preferred)

Technical Skills:

• Proficient in C#, .NET Framework 4.8+, ASP.NET Web Forms, MVC
• Strong SQL Server database design, optimization, and stored procedure development
• Experience with Entity Framework and LINQ
• Knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, TypeScript, jQuery
• Understanding of RESTful API design and SOAP services
• Experience with version control systems (Git preferred)
• Knowledge of dependency injection and repository patterns

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience:

• 7+ years of enterprise software development experience
• Healthcare industry experience with knowledge of HIPAA compliance
• Experience with HL7 messaging standards and healthcare data integration
• Experience with cloud platforms (Azure preferred)
