This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Software Developer in Test, Quality Platform based in Canada.

This role sits at the center of quality engineering, developer productivity, and AI-powered testing within a large-scale software organization. You will build and evolve shared testing infrastructure, automation frameworks, and developer tooling used by engineering teams across the organization. Rather than focusing on one product area, you will create platforms and systems that make reliable, high-quality software the default. You will collaborate closely with product engineers, quality specialists, and Site Reliability Engineering teams to improve release confidence and engineering efficiency. A key focus will be developing AI-assisted testing capabilities that accelerate test creation while maintaining strong quality standards. Accountabilities

  • Build, maintain, and evolve shared quality platforms, test automation frameworks, and developer tooling used across multiple engineering teams.
  • Design and develop AI-assisted test authoring infrastructure that significantly reduces test development time while maintaining reliability and coverage.
  • Establish and improve CI integration standards to increase build stability, testing efficiency, and release confidence across engineering teams.
  • Design specialized test harnesses for AI-powered product capabilities, including health checks, graceful degradation, quota monitoring, resilience testing, and adversarial scenarios.
  • Identify systemic test debt, flaky tests, and recurring quality issues, and implement solutions before they negatively affect engineering productivity.
  • Develop reusable testing utilities, frameworks, and infrastructure that can be adopted consistently across the engineering organization.
  • Partner with Quality Advocates, Product Engineering, and SRE teams to continuously improve testing strategies, developer experience, and platform reliability.
  • Evaluate emerging AI-powered testing and developer tools and lead adoption when they demonstrate measurable improvements in engineering effectiveness.
  • Support systems throughout their lifecycle, from architecture and implementation through production support and continuous improvement.
  • Mentor engineers and promote engineering practices that improve software quality, reliability, maintainability, and delivery speed.
  • Help establish scalable quality practices and technical standards across teams working on diverse software products and capabilities.
  • Requirements:

    • Strong hands-on experience building and maintaining production-grade test automation frameworks using Playwright, Selenium, or comparable technologies.
    • Strong software engineering fundamentals, including experience writing, debugging, testing, and maintaining production application code.
    • Proven experience integrating automated testing into CI/CD pipelines and diagnosing flaky, unreliable, or failing test suites.
    • Experience developing or maintaining shared developer tooling, testing infrastructure, engineering platforms, or similar systems used by multiple teams.
    • Practical experience using AI development tools such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or similar technologies to accelerate engineering workflows while applying sound technical judgment.
    • Ability to take ownership of complex systems end-to-end, including architecture, implementation, deployment, monitoring, troubleshooting, and ongoing support.
    • Experience mentoring engineers and influencing engineering quality and practices beyond an individual team.
    • Strong problem-solving and systems-thinking skills, with the ability to identify systemic issues and develop scalable solutions.
    • Experience working collaboratively with product engineering, quality, infrastructure, and reliability teams.
    • Expert-level English communication skills, both written and spoken, with the ability to lead technical discussions, present priorities to executive stakeholders, and collaborate daily with engineering leaders across multiple teams and regions.
    • Experience designing testing strategies for complex or distributed software environments is an asset.
    • Experience building test harnesses for AI-powered features, including health checks, circuit breakers, adversarial testing, or resilience testing, is a strong advantage.
    • Experience developing or maintaining autonomous or agentic AI systems is an asset.
    • Experience evaluating AI-powered developer tools and integrating them into engineering workflows is beneficial.
    • Familiarity with observability, quality metrics, and large-scale developer platforms supporting multiple engineering teams is a plus.
