Senior Software Developer

Overview

We're looking for a Senior Software Developer to build production-ready features across PowerPlan's mission-critical tax, accounting, and workflow platform, working across .NET and Azure. You'll get hands-on with real feature ownership while building fluency in the platform's architecture, workflows, and data flows under the guidance of senior architects and SMEs.

We're in the middle of one of the most significant transformations in our history. Decades of proven functionality are being reimagined on a modern SaaS foundation, while AI becomes central to how we build, deliver, and evolve our products. The next generation of the PowerPlan platform is being designed right now. Join us, and you'll have the opportunity to influence the technology, engineering practices, and capabilities that will shape it for years to come.

Beyond your own delivery, you'll start building the habits of a strong technical mentor — pairing with less experienced developers, giving substantive code review feedback, and contributing your perspective in design discussions. It's a role built for someone ready to grow past pure execution and into broader technical influence, in a high-trust, high-accountability engineering culture.

Responsibilities

Success will be measured by how quickly you build working fluency in the platform's architecture, how reliably your code ships without accumulating technical debt, and by how much your code review and mentoring contributions raise the bar for the developers around you.

  • Work with architects and SMEs to build fluency in the current .NET, and Azure architecture, workflows, and data flows, and contribute meaningful feedback on scalability or design questions as they come up.
  • Participate actively in design and architecture reviews, contributing solid technical input and asking the right questions to help the team land on a scalable approach.
  • Design, build, and maintain production-ready features across .NET/C# and Azure, applying solid scalability and maintainability practices.
  • Use code review, testing, and performance diagnostics to catch issues before they reach production, and keep your defect escape rate low.
  • Pair regularly with less experienced developers and give substantive code review feedback that helps them grow, not just approves or blocks a PR.
  • Take on increasingly complex technical problems as your fluency grows, reducing how often you need to lean on more senior engineers for the hardest questions.
  • Surface technical risks and blockers as soon as you spot them, and speak up in technical discussions rather than defaulting to going along with the room.

Qualifications

  • Solid working expertise in modern .NET (C#, ASP.NET Core), async/await patterns, and API design.
  • Experience designing relational schemas and writing efficient SQL queries in an Azure SQL or SQL Server environment.
  • Some experience operating cloud-hosted systems on Azure, with a working understanding of scalability and performance tradeoffs.
  • Comfort contributing to architecture or design discussions, even if you're not yet leading them.
  • A genuine interest in mentoring less experienced developers through pairing and code review.
  • A willingness to surface risks and blockers early and speak up in technical discussions.

Preferred

  • Experience leading a design or architecture discussion and getting a team aligned behind a technical direction.
  • Prior experience mentoring developers formally, such as through structured onboarding or a leveling program.
  • Familiarity with regulated or compliance-driven financial software environments.
  • Interest in growing toward a Principal-level, multi-domain technical ownership role.
  • Strong front-end engineering skills using TypeScript, Angular, and modern state management patterns.
