Senior Software Developer

Job Overview

Manages production support activities for Business Transaction Reporting Application for commercial clients, fixes application bugs, troubleshoots production issues, participates in incident and problem management, introduces automation as part of a continual improvement program using AI, and develops and manages software development projects or assignments.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and investigate production issues, JCL Batch job executions, troubleshoot failures, and ensure timely resolutions to maintain smooth operations.
• Fix vulnerabilities, upgrade and maintain technical debt and bugs.
• Develop and test software solutions, frameworks, and tools of moderate complexity, ensuring alignment with business requirements and technical standards.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to design and implement solutions to resolve moderately complex issues and improve processes.
• Analyze system requirements and contribute to the creation of technical strategies, offering recommendations to enhance functionality and operational efficiency.
• Lead software development tasks or projects requiring advanced problem solving and decision making, navigating ambiguity.
• Resolve software development–related problems independently by identifying areas for improvement and implementing solutions that enhance efficiency within scope of responsibility.
• Maintain and enhance relationships with internal teams and external contacts to deliver measurable business outcomes.

Required Skills and Experience

• Hands‑on experience developing and supporting cloud‑based applications (Spring Boot and React or similar front‑end frameworks).
• Proficiency in Node.js or Python, and SQL with familiarity in relational databases.
• Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs with multi‑system integration.
• Exposure to CI/CD pipelines, automated testing concepts, and Agile delivery practices.
• Basic knowledge of cloud platforms (OpenShift, AWS S3, or Azure) and comfort working with different environments.
• Fast learner who is results‑oriented, self‑motivated, and effective working both independently and in a team.
• Equivalent Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science.
• 4+ years of experience developing and providing application support to Java‑based applications on different platforms.
• 2+ years hands‑on experience with Angular 6+ and TypeScript.
• Experience working with both onshore and offshore resources.
• Core Java/JEE with Spring/Spring Boot; build REST APIs, data access via JPA/JDBC.
• Integration: JMS/IBM MQ, REST/SOAP consumption; SQL optimization on DB2/Oracle. DevOps: Maven/Gradle, Jenkins/GitHub Actions, Git; scripting (Shell/Python); container/OpenShift exposure is a plus.
• DB: MongoDB and Oracle DB.
• Observability and support: Splunk/ELK, metrics dashboards, Dynatrace.

Preferred Skills

• Python, MongoDB.
• WebSphere Application Server: deployment/configuration, performance tuning (JVM/GC, thread/connection pools).
