Day-to-day spans Spring Boot/Angular development, REST/SOAP services, IBM WebSphere/BAW/ODM integrations, Oracle PL/SQL work, and Azure DevOps CI/CD.

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Software Developer to support the Government of Ontario's Land & Resources Cluster. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, integrating, testing, deploying, and maintaining enterprise applications and services.
The resource may also be assigned, as required, to projects or initiatives related to Bill 5 – Protect Ontario by Unleashing Our Economy Act 2025.
This is a fully onsite position requiring the successful candidate to work from 40 St. Clair Ave. W, Toronto, five days per week, unless otherwise approved.
Key Responsibilities
- Translate technical systems specifications into robust, working, and tested applications.
- Develop detailed programming specifications and technical designs.
- Write, generate, compile, debug, and maintain application code.
- Develop and maintain enterprise Java/JEE applications.
- Design and develop web applications, APIs, microservices, and distributed systems.
- Develop and integrate RESTful and SOAP-based web services.
- Develop applications using Java, Spring Boot, JPA, EJB, Angular, NodeJS, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, AJAX, JDBC, and SQL.
- Develop and integrate solutions with IBM Operational Decision Manager (ODM).
- Integrate Java/JEE services with IBM Business Automation Workflow (BAW) for business process orchestration and automation.
- Work with IBM WebSphere Application Server ND 8.x and Liberty 8.x.
- Develop and maintain solutions involving middleware, gateways, communication protocols, and enterprise integrations.
- Develop complex database solutions using Oracle and PL/SQL, including stored procedures, complex queries, migration scripts, staging tables, and data transformation.
- Support data migration and integration activities involving relational and hierarchical databases.
- Work with OpenText Content Management System APIs, particularly for maintaining and updating metadata.
- Develop AODA-compliant user interfaces and accessible PDF documents.
- Ensure solutions align with Ontario Government IT standards, including GO-ITS 54.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical problems during software implementation, conversion, migration, and production operations.
- Develop and execute unit, functional, load, regression, and integration testing.
- Prepare deployment packages and coordinate application releases across multiple environments.
- Work with Azure Cloud and Azure DevOps, including CI/CD pipelines, Docker/containerization, and deployment automation.
- Participate in Agile/Scrum, Kanban, and rapid application development environments.
- Conduct code/design reviews and provide accurate development estimates.
- Collaborate closely with Business Analysts, QA teams, Solution/System Architects, and other technical stakeholders.
- Maintain architecture, design, technical, deployment, user, and system documentation.
- Report progress and participate in project meetings.
- Manage multiple priorities and deliverables in a fast-paced environment.
