Position: Senior Software Developer
Client: Health Services Cluster – Government of Ontario
Ministry: Ministry of Public and Business Service Delivery and Procurement
Location: 5700 Yonge Street, Toronto, ON
Work Arrangement: 100% Onsite
Contract: September 15, 2026 – March 31, 2027
Extension: Up to one additional term, subject to available contract days/funding
Hours: 7.25 hours per day, Monday–Friday, within standard business hours of 8:00 AM–5:00 PM, excluding lunch

Position Overview
We are seeking Senior Software Developers to support the Health Services Cluster within the Government of Ontario. The successful candidates will provide hands-on expertise across enterprise application development, full-stack multi-tier solutions, systems integration, technical design, coding, testing, troubleshooting, and technical leadership.
This role is suited to senior-level developers who have extensive experience working with large-scale, complex, multi-platform IT environments and who can translate business and technical requirements into robust, scalable, secure, and maintainable solutions.
The successful candidate will work closely with Business Analysts, Solution Architects, System Testers, Developers, Project Teams, and external stakeholders to deliver enterprise-level technology solutions.
Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct requirements analysis in collaboration with Business Analysts and project stakeholders.
  • Develop conceptual, logical, and physical solution design and architecture artifacts.
  • Participate in architecture checkpoints and provide technical support throughout the solution lifecycle.
  • Lead and participate in solution design walkthroughs and technical reviews.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, system documentation, and user guides.
  • Perform hands-on software development, coding, component development, and systems integration.
  • Conduct unit and integration testing of developed components.
  • Develop detailed unit and integration test cases.
  • Collaborate with System Testers to develop test cases covering functional, performance, security, and vulnerability testing.
  • Lead technical investigations and coordinate resolution of complex technical problems, incidents, defects, and system issues.
  • Perform debugging, refactoring, performance optimization, and technical remediation.
  • Evaluate client requirements and develop appropriate technical recommendations and solution alternatives.
  • Lead or contribute to end-to-end enterprise-level IT solution delivery.
  • Conduct solution design reviews and code walkthroughs.
  • Provide technical guidance and leadership to System Analysts, Developers, and Testers.
  • Support work estimation, technical planning, project delivery, and implementation activities.
  • Work with internal teams, service delivery partners, external consultants, and stakeholders to ensure successful delivery.
  • Prepare and conduct knowledge-transfer sessions and walkthroughs for technical project team members.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge-transfer checklists and supporting technical materials.
  • Contribute to IT standards, architecture practices, security, privacy, quality assurance, and governance activities.
  • Manage and prioritize multiple technical assignments while meeting project deadlines and delivery commitments.

1. Senior IT Systems Development Experience – Mandatory
  • 10+ years of demonstrated experience in IT systems development within complex, multi-platform environments.

6. Public Sector / Government Experience – Preferred
