About the role:
Join us as a Senior Software Development Engineer (SDE III) on Remitly's Global Experience Platform team! Our mission is to make Remitly's products globally-ready by design – building the internationalization infrastructure, translation pipelines, and AI-powered tooling that let every customer experience Remitly as locally made, whatever their language, script, or locale.
Your work will reach millions of customers across 18+ languages and 175+ countries. You'll help Remitly launch new countries and languages faster and raise the quality of localized experiences in existing markets – bringing AI into the core of how we translate, validate, and scale content, alongside deep i18n engineering. You'll partner directly with our Localization team and report to a Kraków-based Manager.
- 6+ years of software development experience, including internationalization/localization engineering and leading delivery of complex features within a team.
- Strong programming ability in Go and JavaScript/TypeScript; including React Native and modern web frameworks (Next.js, Astro) – or deep experience in a comparable ecosystem (Java, Kotlin, C#/.NET) with a track record of picking up new stacks quickly.
- Experience applying AI/LLMs in production workflows, with sound judgment about where automation should and shouldn't replace human review; translation or content pipeline experience is ideal.
- Working knowledge of internationalization standards and locale-aware formatting (Unicode, ICU/CLDR-based libraries).
- Proven ability to build or evolve localization systems and translation pipelines at scale.
- Experience with modern software development practices, including code reviews and secure coding standards, and strong cross-functional collaboration skills.
Nice to have:
- Demonstrated experience shipping RTL/bidirectional language support in production.
- Experience with localizability audits and pseudo-locale validation.
- Hands-on experience with TMS platforms (Lokalise, Phrase, Smartling, Transifex), ICU/CLDR internals, and localization interchange formats (XLIFF).
- Experience in fintech or another regulated industry.
