Senior Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET)

Contract position. 100% remote. Core working hours: 16:00–20:00 CET with flexibility for the remaining hours.

The role involves working on quality engineering initiatives throughout the organization, building and scaling production environments.

Responsibilities

  • Define and implement overall testing strategy and methodologies aligned with business objectives and software development goals.
  • Drive adoption of CI/CD practices to integrate automated tests efficiently into deployment pipelines.
  • Conduct research on emerging technologies, tools, and processes in software testing; evaluate and recommend adoption.
  • Lead root‑cause analysis for complex bugs and issues, collaborating with developers for long‑term solutions.
  • Collaborate with the DevOps/Infra team to improve existing infrastructure, tackle daily operational challenges, and boost engineering productivity.
  • Work cross‑functionally with various teams at Apollo.
  • Provide database support with MongoDB, ElasticSearch, RedisCache, and BigQuery.
  • Lead design and development of advanced automated testing frameworks and tools that scale across projects and technologies.
  • Collaborate with engineering leadership to integrate quality assurance processes early in the software development lifecycle.
  • Serve as a thought leader, mentoring and guiding QE teams, fostering a culture of quality and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee and manage complex testing projects, coordinating with multiple teams to meet timelines, budgets, and quality targets.

Qualifications

  • BS or MS degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience developing software, automated frameworks, and test automation tools.
  • Strong experience with Linux (Ubuntu) and databases; good knowledge of MongoDB or ElasticSearch.
  • Experience with Docker, VPN, and Kubernetes (especially Kubernetes).
  • Experience with distributed systems.
  • Proficiency coding in Java, Python, or similar languages.
  • Knowledge of automation frameworks like Cypress and Rspec.
  • Exposure to modern backend programming languages, preferably Ruby.
