Senior Software Development Engineer in Test (Python)

In this role, you will build and enhance automated test solutions that validate embedded software, device workflows, hardware-software integration, and system reliability.
Our team is developing advanced medical devices and software solutions that improve patient care in blood and plasma collection, transfusion medicine, and diagnostics.
Working closely with engineering teams and a US-based customer, you will help deliver high-quality, compliant healthcare products in a regulated environment.
The role is based in Wroclaw or Lviv, as it requires periodic access to engineering labs and hands-on work with physical medical devices.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks and test suites using Python and Pytest for medical devices and embedded systems
- Create and execute automated system, integration, verification, and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) tests to validate device functionality, workflows, communication interfaces, and hardware-software interactions
- Investigate test failures, analyze logs, troubleshoot automation and integration issues, and drive defect reporting and validation activities
- Improve test automation infrastructure, CI/CD integration, execution efficiency, reporting, and overall test coverage
- Collaborate with software, firmware, hardware, and quality engineering teams to ensure product quality and regulatory compliance
- Work directly with physical medical devices in engineering laboratories and communicate regularly with the US-based customer
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in software test automation with strong expertise in Python and Pytest
- Proven experience developing automated tests for medical devices, embedded software, and hardware-software integrated systems, including Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing
- Solid understanding of embedded software, firmware, device drivers, and hardware-software interaction troubleshooting
- Experience validating communication interfaces and protocols such as USB, RS-232, TCP/IP, REST APIs, and backend services
- Strong knowledge of system, integration, verification, and validation testing methodologies
- Experience with desktop application test automation; experience with Qt/Squish is preferred
- Hands-on experience with Git and CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps
- The expertise to analyze logs, investigate complex failures, and perform root-cause analysis
- Understanding of software verification and validation processes within regulated environments, including standards such as IEC 62304, ISO 13485, or FDA guidelines
- Experience working with SQL databases, Linux and Windows environments, and test reporting tools
- Strong communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills
- Self-driven mindset with a passion for quality engineering and continuous improvement
