Senior Software Development Engineer in Test
We are seeking a senior-level Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) -– Connected Services & Mobile Apps to drive test automation for end-to-end validation systems supporting Stellantis connected services and mobile app experiences across in-vehicle systems, backend platforms, and smartphone applications. This is a hands-on engineering role focused on building scalable automation frameworks, advanced validation tooling, and effective quality strategies for connected customer experiences. The ideal candidate brings strong software engineering fundamentals, automotive validation experience, and the ability to work across HIL/SIL environments, backend services, mobile ecosystem, vehicle communication networks, and global cross-functional teams. This role also requires experience with continuous testing, CI-integrated automation, and driving quality best practices in Agile delivery environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define and execute end-to-end validation strategies for Stellantis connected services and mobile app experiences, including OTA updates and app-to-vehicle/cloud integrations.
- Review existing automated test coverage, assess new requirements, identify validation gaps, and drive continuous improvements in test coverage, speed, and overall quality.
- Architect, develop, and maintain scalable automation frameworks and CI/CD-integrated test pipelines using Java, Python, JavaScript, CAPL, or similar technologies.
- Develop automated API, functional, mobile, and non-functional tests using modern frameworks and tools such as Selenium, Appium, API test tools, REST Assured, GitHub, JMeter, and comparable platforms.
- Apply modern AI-assisted testing approaches such as intelligent test generation, anomaly detection, log triage, self-healing automation, coding assistants, and predictive regression optimization to improve speed, resilience, and coverage.
- Design, build, configure, and maintain HIL and SIL benches, simulators, network emulators, digital twins, and automated environment provisioning for end-to-end validation of connected vehicle and mobile app workflows.
- Develop custom internal tools to support validation, test data generation, execution log analysis, dashboards, and reporting platforms.
- Create and maintain test strategies, test plans, test procedures, test cases, requirement traceability matrices, defect reports, log collection practices, and test reporting artifacts.
- Validate end-to-end communication paths across TCU, backend APIs, MQTT brokers, mobile apps (Android and iOS), and vehicle network protocols such as CAN, CAN-FD, and Ethernet.
- Perform defect triage and root cause analysis across vehicle, hardware, software, backend, and mobile layers using logs, traces, telemetry, and diagnostic data.
- Establish and monitor quality gates, test metrics, automation coverage, pass/fail trends, flakiness, and release-readiness indicators for connected services and app releases.
- Integrate automated testing into continuous integration pipelines and evaluate new tools and technologies that strengthen the validation platform.
- Ensure validation approaches support automotive safety, cybersecurity, software update compliance requirements, and strong engineering best practices for portability, reusability, and maintainability.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional and global teams using Agile ways of working to improve validation efficiency, automation maturity, and product quality.
Technical Skills:
- Programming and Automation: Java, Python, JavaScript, CAPL, scripting, test framework design, API automation, mobile app automation, and maintainable test development best practices
- Test Frameworks and Tools: Selenium, Appium, Postman, JMeter, GitHub, Jenkins, and similar automation and validation toolchains
- AI-Enhanced Testing: AI-assisted test generation, coding assistants such as GitHub Copilot, anomaly detection, intelligent log triage, predictive analytics, and automation optimization
- Automotive and Embedded Validation: HIL, SIL, telematics, OTA, diagnostics, CAN/CAN-FD, Ethernet, and end-to-end vehicle-to-cloud validation
- Cloud, Backend, and Connected Services Validation: REST APIs, MQTT, AWS-based environments, service virtualization, and backend workflow validation
- DevOps and Tooling: Git, GitHub workflows, Jenkins, CI/CD pipelines, automated test orchestration, dashboards, reporting, metrics, and defect tracking
- Quality Engineering: test strategy, test planning, requirement traceability, regression optimization, release gating, failure triage, observability, and reliability validation
What Success Looks Like:
Success in this role means delivering scalable automation that improves product quality, increases release confidence, and strengthens validation efficiency across connected services and mobile app programs. You will help improve defect detection earlier in the lifecycle, enhance automation coverage and execution speed, and support reliable customer experiences across connected features. This role also calls for strong technical leadership, continuous improvement, and meaningful contributions to a modern, highly automated validation platform.
