Senior Software Engineer - AI & Data

POSITION OVERVIEW

As a Data Scientist, you will be responsible for driving advanced analytics initiatives, developing scalable machine learning models and enabling data-driven decision-making across business functions for HDS India. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in statistical modelling, machine learning and data engineering with a strong understanding of enterprise data ecosystems, particularly SAP ECC and SAP HANA and work closely with cross-functional teams to extract, transform, and analyze structured and unstructured data from SAP and non-SAP systems, delivering actionable insights and predictive solutions.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education and Certifications

· Bachelor’s / Master’s degree in computer science, data science, statistics or a related quantitative field

· Certifications in machine learning / deep learning / data structures will be an added advantage

· SAP Certified Application Associate – SAP HANA (desirable)

Relevant Experience

· 10–12 years of experience in data science, advanced analytics, or applied machine learning roles

· Proven experience in leading end-to-end data science projects in large-scale enterprise environments

· Experience in interacting with Senior internal or external stakeholders around project/ service conceptualization and plan of delivery

· Hands-on experience working with SAP ECC and SAP HANA data models, tables, and integration layers

Leadership Experience

· 3-4 years of experience in leading a team on data science, advanced analytics preferably within a GCC setup

Must – to - Have Skills

· Excellent programming skills in Python, R and SQL ((knowledge of writing end-to-end ML or data pipelines in python)

· Hands-on experience in machine learning, predictive modelling, time-series forecasting and optimization algorithms

· Deep understanding of SAP ECC/HANA data structures, including modules like MM, SD, FI, and BW

· Experience with data extraction from SAP using CDS Views, OData, RFCs or SAP Data Services

· Proficiency in data wrangling, feature engineering, and model deployment using tools like Databricks

· Familiarity with version control (Git) and CI/CD pipelines

Good – to – Have Skills

· Experience with SAP BTP (Business Technology Platform) and SAP AI Core

· Exposure to deep learning frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch)

· Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategy and Planning

· Define and drive the data science roadmap aligned with business and digital transformation goals

· Identify high-impact analytics opportunities across domains

· Collaborate with enterprise architects and SAP teams to align data science initiatives with SAP data models and infrastructure

· Working with leadership to create project plan, and design analytics roadmap

Delivery and Execution

· End to end development of AI/ML models

· Build scalable data pipelines and model training workflows using SAP and cloud-native tools

· Translate complex business problems into analytical frameworks and deliver measurable outcomes

· Ensure model interpretability, performance monitoring and continuous improvement

Support and Enablement

· Collaborate with SAP functional and technical teams to ensure seamless data integration and model consumption

· Provide technical guidance on data extraction from SAP ECC/HANA and integration with data lakes or cloud platforms

· Develop reusable components, templates, and best practices for analytics delivery

People Leadership

· Foster a culture of innovation, experimentation and continuous learning

· Lead knowledge-sharing sessions and contribute to the development of internal data science communities

· Collaborate with global teams to scale solutions and share best practices across regions
