Senior Software Engineer - AI/ML Platform

About the Role

Our client, a prominent technology solutions provider, is looking for a seasoned Senior Software Engineer to join their core AI/ML platform team in Benoni, Gauteng . This role is crucial for developing and enhancing the foundational infrastructure that powers our AI and machine learning initiatives. Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy scalable and reliable software systems for the AI/ML platform.
• Build and maintain robust APIs and services for data access, model training, and inference.
• Implement infrastructure as code (IaC) to automate cloud resource provisioning.
• Collaborate with data scientists and ML engineers to understand their requirements and provide effective platform solutions.
• Optimize system performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency.
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines for platform components.
• Write high-quality, maintainable, and well-tested code.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues in production environments.
• Contribute to architectural decisions and technology selection for the AI/ML platform.
• Mentor junior engineers and promote best practices in software development and MLOps.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of professional software development experience, with a focus on distributed systems and cloud platforms.
• Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, Go, or Java.
• Experience with cloud computing services (AWS, Azure, or GCP), particularly those related to AI/ML platforms (e.g., SageMaker, Azure ML, Vertex AI).
• Proficiency with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Solid understanding of CI/CD principles and tools.
• Experience with building and managing APIs and microservices.
• Knowledge of data processing frameworks (e.g., Spark) is a plus.
• Excellent problem-solving, debugging, and analytical skills.
