Senior Software Engineer - AI Platform

About the Role

Our client, a leader in cutting-edge AI & Emerging Technologies, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer to focus on building and scaling their AI platform. This role is based in Vereeniging, Gauteng , and offers a fully remote work arrangement. You will be instrumental in developing the infrastructure and tools that empower data scientists and ML engineers to build, train, and deploy machine learning models efficiently. Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable and reliable software systems for the AI platform.
• Build and optimize infrastructure for ML model training, deployment, and monitoring.
• Develop APIs and tools to streamline the ML workflow for data scientists and engineers.
• Collaborate with ML engineers to ensure seamless integration of ML models into production.
• Implement best practices for software development, including testing, CI/CD, and code reviews.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues within the AI platform.
• Contribute to architectural decisions and technology selection for the platform.
• Stay updated with emerging trends in AI infrastructure, MLOps, and distributed systems.
• Mentor junior engineers and promote knowledge sharing within the team.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of professional software development experience, with a significant focus on backend systems.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Go, or Java.
• Experience building and managing distributed systems and microservices.
• Understanding of the machine learning lifecycle and MLOps principles.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Strong problem-solving, debugging, and analytical skills.
• Excellent teamwork and communication abilities.
• Experience working in a remote-first environment is a plus.
