Summary
Senior engineer on SEON's AML team designing and building TypeScript services end to end: Node.js backends and NestJS/Express microservices, a React customer-facing Admin Panel, and client-side JS libraries, backed by PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch, AWS and Terraform. Includes on-call, design leadership, CI/CD and mentoring. Fully remote or hybrid.
- Design and build well-architected TypeScript features end to end for AML services and customer facing Admin Panel with performance, scalability, security and observability
- Lead team-level design reviews and write design docs or ADRs for significant changes
- Challenge requirements and raise delivery risks early with proposed mitigation
- Consistently deliver high-quality code with simplicity, security, testability, performance, and scalability in focus
- Maintain and develop client-side JavaScript libraries, Node.js backend of AML Services and Nest.js / ExpressJS services
- Take part in on-call rotation, debug complex cross-system issues and drive root cause analysis for significant incidents
- Proactively improve monitoring, alerting and runbooks for owned services
- Own the testing approach for services, setting quality gates and keeping code maintainable and well tested
- Prioritize and fix issues reported by QA and customers, bringing customer’s voice into planning and prioritization
- Track implementation progress using company processes and software
- Review code written by the team with technical depth, giving direct, constructive feedback
- Collaborate with PM, QA team, Architects and Devops team continuously and communicate with senior stakeholders
- Lead planning and estimation, break large projects into incremental work streams, and step into tech or project lead role
- Drive improvements to team’s CI/CD pipelines, tooling and ways of working using retrospective data and delivery metrics
- Work with large datasets such as screening and watchlist data, keeping them performant, accurate and auditable
- Use AI-assisted development tools and help find where AI can improve products and development
- Turn effective practices into reusable team standards such as templates, prompts and playbooks
- Mentor engineers across the team, giving feedback and sharing knowledge
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- At least 6 years of experience in Software Development including owning design and delivery of production services
- Excellent working knowledge of JavaScript/Typescript and stable knowledge of HTML5/CSS3 and RESTful API development
- Ability to cooperate with team members in an Agile development environment
- Experience designing for non-functional requirements and leading technical design discussions
- Experience operating built services including monitoring, on-call, incident response and root cause analysis
- Track record of mentoring and leading projects or work streams without management title
- Out-of-the-box thinking combined with ability to adapt to fast-paced environment
- Fluency in English
- Technical knowledge of JavaScript, Typescript, React, Node and NestJS
- Technical knowledge of HTML5, CSS3 (Sass)
- Technical knowledge of PostgreSQL
- Technical knowledge of ElasticSearch
- Technical knowledge of AWS
- Technical knowledge of Terraform
- Experience with data heavy applications
- Experience working in regulated industry such as AML, KYC or financial services
