Senior Software Engineer - Backend

Overview

We are looking for a highly talented Senior Backend Engineer to join our Riyadh office. The role offers hands‑on experience and a direct impact on a platform used by millions of people. The ideal candidate will be a strong individual contributor and a collaborative team player, supporting the team and working closely with management to drive strategic initiatives across the region.

Responsibilities

  • Take part in architectural decision‑making for the platform.
  • Actively participate in migrating the monolithic application into microservices.
  • Design, improve, and secure the overall backend architecture to support massive user and product growth.
  • Work with Docker containers and Kubernetes manifests on Google Cloud Platform.
  • Coach and mentor team members as a senior member of the Backend Chapter.
  • Embrace Design‑Driven Development, SOLID principles, event‑driven architecture, algorithms, and automated tests.
  • Continuously improve test coverage, refactor code, and maintain documentation.
  • Perform code reviews, debugging, and investigation activities.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of backend development experience using GoLang, Ruby on Rails (RoR), Java, or Python.
  • Strong database expertise with PostgreSQL and NoSQL databases; solid understanding of normal forms, ACID principles, isolation levels, indexing, query optimization, and memory caching (Redis, Memcached).
  • Proficiency in monitoring, alerting, and logging tools such as Grafana.
  • Deep understanding of software architecture, Domain‑Driven Design (DDD), microservices, Kubernetes, and containerization.
  • Experience with monolithic migration.
  • Strong testing mindset with experience writing unit and integration tests.
  • Adaptability and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment and make informed decisions.
