Senior Software Engineer (Backend)
Summary
Build and scale backend APIs and event-driven services for a global e-commerce platform using Node.js/Golang, React, and Google Cloud.

Our client is a global enterprise technology provider that spun out of a major online retailer after a decade of building modern e-commerce infrastructure. Operating as a high-ownership standalone platform, they are seeking a hands-on Senior Fullstack Software Engineer (Backend Focus) to scale their end-to-end e-commerce services, drive technical direction, and mentor an expanding engineering team using AI-assisted development workflows.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and deploy scalable backend APIs (REST/GraphQL), UI components, and event-driven features on Google Cloud Platform.
- Lead architectural design discussions and drive technical direction for major platform services.
- Collaborate in cross-functional squads to enhance system performance, reliability, and observability.
- Mentor the engineering team through pairing sessions, documentation, and constructive code reviews.
- Own production issues end-to-end and actively participate in team on-call rotations.
Requirements:
- 6+ years of software engineering experience, including senior or tech lead capabilities.
- Production-level experience with Node.js and/or Golang , alongside working knowledge of ReactJS.
- Strong backend and database skills across REST/GraphQL APIs, SQL, MongoDB, and Redis caching.
- Experience with asynchronous messaging architectures, including Pub/Sub or message queues.
- Daily usage of AI-assisted development tools like Cursor, Windsurf, or Claude Code.
- Solid grasp of core performance optimization principles, covering indexing, data structures, memory usage, and async execution.
- Rigorous commitment to unit, integration, and endpoint testing, plus secure coding practices.
- Computer Science degree and excellent verbal/written communication skills.
Nice-to-Have:
- Prior experience building or managing enterprise e-commerce platforms and marketplace systems.
- Practical familiarity with LLM APIs and modern AI Agent Frameworks such as LangGraph or Vercel.
- Background in distributed microservices and DevOps essentials including CI/CD pipelines, Docker, or Kubernetes.
- Experience using observability tools like Datadog, New Relic, or Cloud Monitoring.
