Senior Software Engineer — Backend & Infrastructure

Role Description This full-time, remote Senior Software Engineer — Backend & Infrastructure role focuses on designing, building, and maintaining the backend systems that power FilterPixel Studio and FilterPixel Live. Responsibilities include developing scalable APIs and services, optimizing data pipelines and storage, and improving reliability and performance for high-volume image processing and delivery. The role involves collaborating with product and frontend teams to define technical requirements, implement secure integrations, and ensure system resilience under heavy load. You will also contribute to infrastructure automation, monitoring, and incident response, as well as code reviews, technical documentation, and mentoring other engineers. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex backend challenges and building robust systems that support demanding real-time event workflows.

Qualifications

• Strong foundation in Computer Science, including data structures, algorithms, and systems design.
• Proficiency in Back-End Web Development and Software Development, with experience building and maintaining production services.
• Advanced Programming skills and hands-on expertise with Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles.
• Experience designing scalable, secure APIs and distributed systems for high-traffic or high-volume applications.
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, or Azure) and infrastructure-as-code or automation tools.
• Familiarity with databases (SQL and NoSQL), caching, and message queues for performance and reliability.
• Strong debugging, monitoring, and observability skills, including logging, metrics, and alerting practices.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work independently in a remote, distributed team.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience in media processing, event-tech, or real-time systems is a plus.
