About Neuranics Lab

Neuranics Lab is an innovative deep-tech startup reimagining blood diagnostics through advanced technology.

We are building next-generation diagnostic platforms that combine precision optics, electronics, robotics, computer vision, and intelligent software to enable faster, more accurate, and scalable blood sample analysis.

Our work sits at the intersection of software engineering, artificial intelligence, scientific imaging, and physical instrumentation, with the goal of translating cutting-edge research into practical diagnostic solutions.

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Software Engineer with strong Python backend development skills and practical experience in computer vision, image processing, or machine learning.

You will play a key role in designing and developing the software platform powering our automated blood sample analysis systems. This includes building robust backend services, image-processing pipelines, integrating machine learning models, and connecting software with imaging hardware.

The role involves taking existing research prototypes and building reliable, maintainable, and scalable production systems.

We are looking for an engineer with strong software development fundamentals who enjoys solving complex technical challenges across backend systems, image processing, and hardware integration.

Key Responsibilities

Backend & Software Development

  • Design, develop, and maintain robust Python backend applications, services, and APIs.
  • Build modular, scalable, and maintainable software architectures.
  • Develop reliable data-processing pipelines for handling and analyzing large volumes of image data.
  • Implement multithreading, asynchronous processing, task queues, and concurrency where required.
  • Optimize application performance, resource utilization, and system reliability.
  • Write clean, well-structured, testable, and documented code.
  • Implement logging, error handling, automated testing, and debugging workflows.
  • Take ownership of software components from design through development, integration, and deployment.

Computer Vision & Image Processing

  • Develop and integrate image-processing algorithms using Python, NumPy, OpenCV, and related libraries.
  • Work on image detection, segmentation, classification, and analysis pipelines.
  • Integrate machine learning and deep learning models into backend applications.
  • Collaborate with research and ML teams to improve image-processing workflows and model performance.
  • Develop image preprocessing, postprocessing, and analysis modules.
  • Support model evaluation, inference optimization, and deployment across CPU, GPU, and edge environments.

System Integration & Deployment

  • Integrate backend software with microscopy cameras, imaging devices, and instrument-control systems.
  • Work with hardware, optics, and electronics teams to develop reliable end-to-end workflows.
  • Develop and maintain software interfaces for communication between imaging systems, processing pipelines, and application services.
  • Debug and resolve issues across software, imaging, and hardware integration.
  • Support deployment, monitoring, and maintenance of software on Linux-based systems.

Architecture & Collaboration

  • Contribute to software architecture, technical design, and engineering decisions.
  • Collaborate with computer vision researchers, hardware engineers, and product teams.
  • Participate in code reviews and promote software engineering best practices.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to improving development processes.
  • Identify technical challenges and independently drive solutions from concept to implementation.

Required Qualifications & Technical Skills

  • 4-8 years of professional software development experience, preferably building Python-based applications or backend systems.
  • Strong proficiency in Python, including object-oriented programming, type hints, modular architecture, debugging, and performance optimization.
  • Experience developing backend services, APIs, and data-processing pipelines.
  • Strong understanding of multithreading, multiprocessing, asynchronous programming, and concurrency concepts.
  • Hands-on experience with NumPy, OpenCV, or similar image-processing libraries.
  • Practical understanding of computer vision concepts, including image preprocessing, object detection, segmentation, or classification.
  • Familiarity with PyTorch, TensorFlow, or equivalent machine learning frameworks and integrating trained models into software applications.
  • Experience building, testing, and deploying reliable software applications.
  • Comfortable working in Linux environments, including debugging, configuration, and deployment.
  • Familiarity with software integration involving cameras, devices, external SDKs, or hardware interfaces.
  • Good understanding of software design principles, data structures, algorithms, and performance optimization.
  • Experience with Git, automated testing, debugging, and collaborative software development.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently in a multidisciplinary engineering environment.

What We're Looking For

We value strong software engineers who can build reliable systems and adapt to challenging technical problems.

You may be a strong fit if you:

  • Have built and maintained complex Python applications or backend platforms.
  • Have experience working with image-processing pipelines, machine learning models, or data-intensive applications.
  • Understand how to design scalable, maintainable, and reliable software systems.
  • Can integrate different software components, APIs, and external hardware interfaces.
  • Enjoy debugging complex issues and optimizing software performance.
  • Are comfortable collaborating with researchers and engineers from different technical backgrounds.
  • Take ownership of your work and are comfortable making technical decisions.
  • Are interested in applying software engineering and AI to real-world scientific and diagnostic applications.

Prior experience in biomedical imaging, microscopy, or healthcare is not mandatory. We welcome candidates from backend engineering, industrial automation, computer vision, robotics, scientific software, and other relevant technical backgrounds.
