Mercor is placing a Senior Backend Engineer on a high-scale consumer platform team at a large enterprise technology organization, building the services behind web and mobile experiences used by millions of people every day. This is a full-time (40 hours per week), remote role for the United States, listed at $50–$80/hr, as a W-2 position with Cincinnatus LLC placed within the client's engineering organization.
You will lead delivery of scoped features; design, develop, test and maintain efficient services in Node.js, TypeScript and Rust across the full lifecycle and CI/CD; build and optimize server-to-server integrations and REST and GraphQL API layers for high-traffic applications; integrate AI/ML capabilities into product services; run code reviews; monitor application performance; and mentor peers.
Requirements: 5+ years of professional software engineering (or a CS degree and 3+ years) building production systems at a high-scale organization; hands-on production Node.js and TypeScript on the backend; hands-on Rust in production services or performance-critical modules; strong web fundamentals (HTTP semantics, cookies, headers, caching, sessions, service-to-service auth, timeouts and retries); experience operating high-traffic consumer web platforms; availability for 40 hours/week on weekdays. GraphQL on Node.js and web accessibility experience are a plus.
