What you’ll be doing\:

You will support the Software Team in the development of software design that aligns with the Product Owner's vision.

Your role is primarily focused on the design, development and implementation of software solution within the Hybrid Navy product baseline, ensuring that the solution meets the required levels of quality, performance and reliability.

You will work as a member of the Software Team, contributing to the successful delivery of features and supporting continuous improvement of engineering practices and team effectiveness.

Core duties\:

  • Contribute to the design, development and integration of software components within a complex naval systems architecture.
  • Develop and enhance software solutions using Agile and DevSecOps practices, delivering high-quality code and automated test capabilities.
  • Actively participate in sprint planning, reviews and retrospectives, helping to drive successful team delivery and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with engineers, Product Owners and stakeholders to define requirements, solve technical challenges and deliver effective software solutions.

Essential skills\:

  • Software development experience in a structured engineering environment
  • Experience of CI and automated testing
  • Familiarity with using and integrating 3rd party software technologies
  • Able to understand technical guidance within a DevSecOps approach to software development and translate this into useful and reusable design and code artefacts
  • Academic qualification in a STEM related subject or equivalent experience, and ability/willingness to become recognised as Incorporated or Chartered Engineer through an appropriate recognised professional institution

The Team\:

You'll join a large and collaborative team of Software Developers, working together to deliver multiple software projects for both existing and new customers. The team operates in a fast-paced environment, supporting the development of innovative solutions across a diverse portfolio of programmes.

The software developed by the team is highly visible, mission-critical, and designed for deployment within complex Naval Ship environments.
