Senior Software Engineer

Salary: AUD 1000 - 1300 per day

Sydney | Hybrid | Contract | Up to $1300 per day

We’re partnering with a high-growth technology business within a major Australian organisation to hire Senior Software Engineers across two engineering teams.

This is an opportunity to join a technology-led media and advertising business, at an exciting point of transformation. The teams are building and evolving platforms that sit at the intersection of technology, data, advertising and retail, with significant engineering challenges ahead.

We’re looking for experienced engineers who want more than a ticket to pick up. You’ll be expected to bring strong technical judgement, contribute to architecture and design decisions, and help raise the engineering capability of the wider team.

The opportunity
The environment is fast-paced and highly collaborative. You’ll work alongside experienced engineers, product managers and technical leaders, with plenty of opportunity to influence how systems are designed and delivered.

These are hands-on engineering roles. You’ll remain close to the code while also operating at a level where you can influence technical direction and help others solve complex problems.

What you'll be doing

• Design, build and evolve high-quality software across distributed, cloud-based platforms.
• Contribute to architectural and technical design decisions.
• Develop scalable, resilient services and APIs.
• Work with event-driven and microservices-based architectures.
• Collaborate closely with product, engineering and other technical teams.
• Take ownership of complex technical problems from discovery through to delivery.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to other engineers.
• Challenge existing approaches and contribute to better engineering practices.
• Help uplift the technical capability of the wider team.
• Balance pragmatic delivery with long-term technical quality.

What we're looking for
You’ll be an experienced Senior Software Engineer who is comfortable operating in a complex engineering environment and taking genuine ownership of your work.

You'll ideally have:

• Strong JVM development experience (Java and Kotlin)
• Experience building microservices and distributed systems.
• Strong API and integration experience.
• Experience with event-driven architecture.
• Experience working with cloud platforms, ideally GCP.
• Strong understanding of software architecture and system design.
• Experience working with relational and/or NoSQL databases.
• A strong engineering mindset and a focus on building reliable, maintainable software.
• The confidence to make and defend technical decisions.
• Experience working collaboratively across engineering and product teams.
• Expereince defining and building workflows using Temporal
