Senior Software Engineer (C/C++ and Networking)

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Software Engineer (C/C++ and Networking) based in India.

This is a senior engineering opportunity focused on building and evolving next-generation network security products.
You’ll work on complex networking challenges spanning L2/L3/L4 protocols, kernel-space data paths, routing, and scalable traffic processing.
The role combines hands-on C/C++ development with Linux and networking expertise in a highly technical environment.
You’ll contribute to architecture, design, development, testing, and modernization of mature security platforms.
Working across collaborative Scrum teams, you’ll help deliver reliable solutions that protect millions of end users.
You’ll also influence engineering practices, quality standards, testing approaches, and development methodologies.

Accountabilities:

  • Design, develop, modernize, and maintain network security products and systems in line with technical strategy, product requirements, quality standards, and delivery timelines.
  • Work on complex networking and security capabilities involving L2/L3/L4 protocol stacks, routing, TCP/IP, application protocols, high availability, SD-WAN, kernel-space data paths, and highly scalable network-flow processing.
  • Define and support unit, system, and integration testing for new and existing functionality, investigate defects, resolve issues, and assess potential impacts across products and systems.
  • Participate in peer reviews of code, technical designs, and specifications, promoting high-quality, maintainable, and reliable engineering practices.
  • Review product and technical requirements, identify gaps or ambiguities, and recommend alternative approaches that balance technical feasibility with business and product needs.
  • Manage multiple priorities and independently organize work to deliver agreed objectives within project timelines.
  • Recommend appropriate testing strategies and collaborate with test leads and engineering stakeholders to improve product quality and reliability.
  • Identify opportunities to improve development approaches, engineering standards, processes, and procedures, and take ownership of implementing agreed improvements.
  • Collaborate across Scrum teams and functions to architect, design, develop, troubleshoot, and maintain solutions for network security products.
  • Contribute technical expertise and creative problem-solving to the continued scaling, modernization, and evolution of the platform.
  • Requirements:

    • 7–12 years of professional experience developing with C/C++, with strong expertise in Linux system programming and Linux kernel programming.
    • 5+ years of hands-on experience in networking, routing, network security, cryptography, and TCP/IP stack technologies.
    • Strong understanding of application and network protocols such as DHCP, DNS, LDAP, HTTP, HTTPS, and TLS.
    • Experience designing and developing complex, scalable software systems, with a strong understanding of software architecture and engineering principles.
    • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Software, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
    • Experience working with AWS is desirable.
    • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex technical problems and develop robust, high-quality solutions.
    • Strong understanding of software testing, debugging, code reviews, defect management, and engineering quality practices.
    • Ability to work effectively across multiple teams and collaborate with engineers, product stakeholders, test teams, and technical leaders.
    • Strong communication and listening skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly and contribute constructively to design discussions.
    • Self-motivated, adaptable, creative, quality-focused, and comfortable taking ownership in a fast-moving technical environment.
    • Candidates must have legal authorization to work in India without requiring employer sponsorship.
