About the Role:

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to help design, build, and evolve the client's platform—supporting its vision of becoming an autonomous freight management platform powered by digital workers and AI-enabled services.

This is a hands-on senior engineering role with a strong focus on backend development, cloud technologies, system architecture, APIs, DevOps, and technical leadership. You will also have opportunities to work with AI, automation, and modern engineering tools.

You will work closely with Product, Customer Success, Support, Commercial, and Operations teams to turn business requirements into scalable, reliable, and practical technical solutions.

What You'll Do

Software Development

• Design, develop, test, and maintain production-grade software across the client's platform.
• Build scalable, secure, and maintainable solutions that support customer and business outcomes.
• Develop and maintain APIs, integrations, distributed systems, workflow automation, and platform components.
• Lead complex technical implementations from design through delivery.
• Participate in code reviews and promote strong engineering practices.

Technical Leadership

• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to other developers.
• Lead or contribute to technical projects and implementations.
• Help with technical planning, estimation, and identifying technical risks.
• Drive consistency in coding standards, testing, deployment practices, and system design.

Cloud, DevOps & Platform Reliability

• Design and develop cloud-native applications and services.
• Work with Azure, AWS, or GCP cloud environments.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and support DevOps practices.
• Improve system reliability, scalability, observability, and performance.
• Investigate production issues, identify root causes, and implement long-term solutions.
• Contribute to monitoring, alerting, runbooks, and production support readiness.

Architecture & Continuous Improvement

• Contribute to system architecture and long-term technical strategy.
• Participate in solution design and architecture reviews.
• Identify opportunities to simplify systems, reduce technical debt, and improve maintainability.
• Continuously improve engineering processes, tools, and ways of working.

AI & Automation

• Use AI-assisted development tools to improve engineering speed and quality.
• Contribute to AI agent development and workflow automation.
• Identify opportunities to automate manual processes.
• Review and validate AI-assisted outputs before they are used in production.
• Help the team adopt effective AI-first engineering practices.

Collaboration

• Work closely with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Communicate progress, risks, dependencies, and recommendations clearly.
• Support onboarding, deployments, and customer-facing technical initiatives when required.

What We're Looking For

Required

Team & Project Leadership

• Demonstrated experience leading software development teams, technical projects, or complex engineering initiatives.
• Experience mentoring developers and providing technical direction.

Cloud Development

• Hands-on cloud development experience with Azure, AWS, or GCP.

System Design & Architecture

• Strong experience designing scalable and maintainable systems.
• Solid understanding of software architecture, design patterns, distributed systems, and engineering best practices.

CI/CD, DevOps & Testing

• Strong experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
• Good testing hygiene and experience building reliable, production-ready software.
• Experience with code reviews, deployment practices, monitoring, and troubleshooting.

Backend Development

• Strong backend software development experience.
• Hands-on experience with API development.
• Strong experience with .NET or Java is preferred.
• Experience with other modern backend languages such as Rust, TypeScript, or similar technologies is also welcome.

Preferred

Frontend Development

• Experience with TypeScript.
• Experience with React or Angular.

AI Agent Development

• Experience developing or integrating AI agents, agent-based systems, or AI-powered workflow automation.

AI-First Coding

• Excited about using AI coding agents as part of everyday software development.
• Strong hands-on experience with tools such as Claude Code or similar AI coding agents.
• Able to use AI effectively while maintaining strong engineering judgment, code quality, testing, and security standards.

Industry Experience

• Experience working with enterprise platforms such as SAP, TMS, ERP, warehouse, or logistics systems is a plus.
• Experience in freight, logistics, supply chain, or related industries is highly desirable.

Experience

• 7+ years of professional software development experience.
• Strong experience building modern, cloud-native applications.
• Proven experience building APIs, integrations, and distributed systems.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Experience mentoring developers and conducting technical/code reviews.
