Senior Software Engineer on Google Cloud's Cloud Interconnect team in Cambridge, MA, writing and testing system development code, leading design reviews, reviewing others' code, and debugging large-scale distributed systems. Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $174000 - $252000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits

  • Write and test product or system development code.
  • Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.
  • Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
  • Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
  • Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience programming in one or more of the following: Go, Python, C++, or Java.
  • 3 years of experience designing, building, and scaling large-scale distributed systems or infrastructure.
  • 3 years of experience managing the design and implementation of solutions for technical problems.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.
  • 1 year of experience in a technical leadership role.
  • Experience with network engineering, software-defined networking (SDN), or network control planes and protocols (e.g., BGP, TCP/IP, MPLS).
  • Experience with system automation, automated testing, or continuous deployment pipelines in a production environment.
  • Experience diagnosing and resolving complex, systemic troubleshooting issues in distributed control plane systems.
  • Ability to clearly communicate complex technical designs and collaborate effectively with adjacent engineering, product, and SRE teams.
