Senior Software Engineer, Data Platform
Summary
Build and maintain Python-based backend services and REST APIs to serve data from SQL systems and other sources for a modern card-issuing fintech platform.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain backend services and REST APIs that serve data from various SQL subsystems and other data sources
- Develop well-tested, production-grade Python services with clean API contracts, proper authentication, versioning, and error handling
- Work closely with the Analytics Engineering team to expose modeled data through APIs
- Build internal tooling and services to enable organization self-service for data needs
- Maintain and improve existing data pipelines using Airflow and Airbyte
- Contribute to dbt projects for model improvements and data quality
- Support data governance practices including access controls and lineage documentation
Requirements
- Strong Python proficiency with experience building backend services and REST APIs
- Experience with web frameworks such as FastAPI, Flask, or Django
- Solid SQL skills and experience with modern cloud data warehouses like Snowflake
- Experience designing production APIs with proper authentication and versioning
- Familiarity with CI/CD, automated testing, and operational reliability
- Track record of shipping reliable services in production environments
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with data pipeline tools like Airflow, Airbyte, or Dagster
- Familiarity with dbt or similar transformation frameworks
- Experience in fintech, payments, or financial services
- Familiarity with AWS services (Lambda, S3, RDS, API Gateway, ECS/Fargate)
- Kafka or event streaming experience
- Infrastructure-as-code experience with Terraform or Pulumi
