Senior Software Engineer – Desktop Applications
- Design and develop cross-platform desktop applications for Linux and Windows using C/C++ and C#/.NET
- Own the software architecture end-to-end, establishing patterns, module boundaries, and coding standards that other engineers on the team will build on
- Write clean, maintainable, well-documented code and review teammates' work against the architecture you define
- Balance platform-specific requirements (Linux vs. Windows) while maximizing shared/reusable code across the codebase
- Design and implement encrypted communication channels between application components and external services (TLS, mutual authentication, key management)
- Apply secure coding practices to guard against common vulnerabilities (memory safety issues, injection, privilege escalation, etc.)
- Evaluate and select appropriate cryptographic libraries and protocols for the application's needs
- Configure and build custom Linux kernels or kernel modules (custom build flags/config options) to support application requirements — deep kernel internals expertise not required, but comfort with the build/config process is expected
- Develop OS-level plugins, background services, or lightweight drivers that extend application functionality on Linux and/or Windows
- Implement and troubleshoot network communication at the application level and, where needed, at the OS/service level
- 5–8 years of experience developing desktop applications for Linux and Windows
- Strong proficiency in C/C++ and C#/.NET
- Solid understanding of security fundamentals: encryption, authentication, secure network protocols
- Experience designing software architecture for multi-developer teams — defining structure others follow, not just writing code
- Familiarity with the Linux kernel build/configuration process (custom kernel flags, module compilation)
- Experience with networking (TCP/UDP/HTTP or custom protocols)
- Experience writing Windows services and/or Linux daemons/systemd services
- Comfortable working across both OS ecosystems and their differing toolchains (GCC/Make/CMake vs. MSVC/Visual Studio)
- Confident Hungarian and English, both written and spoken. German is a plus.
