Summary

Senior engineer on Apple's internal developer productivity team in San Diego, building and owning the CI/CD and integration infrastructure that engineers across Apple use to build, integrate, and ship software across release trains and hardware platforms. Work centers on distributed build systems, git workflows, and scripting in languages like Python, Ruby, and JavaScript.

Our team builds the foundational systems that engineers across Apple rely on to build, integrate, and ship software — an integration system that gives developers the power to manage changes across a wide range of release trains and hardware platforms. This role gives you the opportunity to own and define strategy, not just execute against someone else's roadmap: how we increase engineering velocity, reduce manual effort, and raise the bar on quality, across every team that depends on us.

We are looking for someone who can handle ambiguity and shifting priorities well, and treat change as a chance to add structure rather than a disruption. Enjoy working regularly with engineers across many different teams. Find real satisfaction in knowing the tools you build are critical to how engineering teams ship software to customers. Are always looking for smarter, more effective ways to solve problems.

Minimum Qualifications

  • You demonstrate an understanding of distributed systems, asynchronous behaviors in pipeline design, CI/CD systems, and build infrastructure.
  • You demonstrate ability to write and debug software systems in scripting languages such as Ruby, Python, zsh, or JavaScript.
  • You have a solid understanding of git capabilities including branching, merging, rebasing, and resolving conflicts.
  • You can verbally communicate and document technical issues and solutions clearly.
  • You're experienced in the planning, design, implementation, integration, test, and maintenance phases of software development, with a solid understanding of developer workflows.
  • You use AI-assisted tools to write, debug, and ship code effectively, and can speak to how they've changed your workflow.
  • You have a BS or MS in CS, EE, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • You have experience gathering requirements and aligning roadmaps directly with stakeholders across multiple teams.
  • You've handled complex build and integration projects across different product lines under tight timelines.
  • You have an understanding of low-level git plumbing commands, hooks, and reflog.
  • You have broad experience in overall software system design and implementation.
