About the Company:
Our client is undertaking a significant platform modernisation initiative focused on migrating a portfolio of applications onto Kong API Gateway and OpenShift. As part of this programme, they are seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer who can bridge the gap between software development, DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering and platform engineering.

Rather than building new APIs or developing greenfield microservices, you'll focus on enabling applications to run successfully within the target platform by improving deployment processes, resolving infrastructure challenges, and supporting operational readiness.
Your expertise will help the organisation accelerate delivery, reduce migration risk, and establish scalable and reliable engineering practices.
What you'll lead & influence: - Support the migration of existing applications onto Kong API Gateway and OpenShift.
- Work closely with technical leads to resolve deployment, infrastructure, and platform integration challenges.
- Enhance CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation processes.
- Review application architectures and deployment approaches from an operational and reliability perspective.
- Improve application readiness for production environments.
- Contribute to platform engineering, DevOps and SRE best practices across the migration programme.
- Troubleshoot application, deployment and platform issues.
- Collaborate across development and platform teams to accelerate migration outcomes.
- Help drive improvements in reliability, scalability, performance and maintainability.
- Strong background in Java software engineering.
- Hands-on experience supporting Spring Boot applications and microservices.
- Proven DevOps engineering expertise.
- Experience designing, building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
- Strong understanding of infrastructure and platform engineering concepts.
- Experience applying Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles.
- Expertise in application deployment, operational readiness and production support.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- OpenShift experience.
- Kong API Gateway experience.
- Kubernetes and container platform expertise.
- Cloud-native deployment patterns.
- Application migration and modernisation experience.
- Experience operating within enterprise-scale platform environments.
- Thinks naturally about deployment, operations, reliability and platform concerns.
- Has a software development background but enjoys working across infrastructure, automation and platform engineering.
