Senior Software Engineer, Fleet & Edge

Summary

Builds cloud-to-robot infrastructure for Dexmate’s Physical AI OS, including OTA updates, fleet telemetry, and resilient device agents to manage large-scale robot deployments.

Dexmate is building the foundation for physical AI — a unified platform that combines high-quality robotic hardware with a universal Physical AI OS, making robots as easy to build and deploy as software. Today, robotics is fragmented, slow, and closed: most builders are forced to reinvent the same stack again and again, and most ideas never make it past the prototype stage. We exist to change that. Our mission is to democratize robotics by lowering the barrier to entry, delivering a plug-and-play platform for developers, researchers, and enterprises, and cultivating an open ecosystem that accelerates the evolution of physical AI. If you want to help shape the next layer of human capability — and believe the future of robotics should be built together, not in isolation — we’d love to build it with you.

The Role

We are looking for a Software Engineer to build the infrastructure connecting Dexmate’s cloud platform with robots operating in the physical world. You will develop the systems that allow us to deploy, manage, monitor, diagnose, and update a growing robot fleet reliably at scale.

Responsibilities

-Build device agents and fleet management services connecting cloud infrastructure with deployed robots.

-Develop OTA and release systems including version management, staged rollout, health checks, rollback, and recovery.

-Build fleet telemetry, observability, and remote diagnostics for production robots.

-Design scalable backend systems for device state, configuration, commands, and software artifacts.

-Build resilient cloud-to-device communication across unreliable or intermittent networks.

Requirements

-5+ years of experience building distributed systems, backend infrastructure, device platforms, or edge systems.

-Strong knowledge of distributed systems, networking, telemetry, cloud infrastructure, and reliability.

-Experience with IoT, edge devices, robotics, autonomous vehicles, or large-scale device fleets strongly preferred.

-Experience with OTA, device management, fleet operations, or remote diagnostics is a plus.

-Strong programming skills in Go, C++, Rust, Python, Java, or similar.

-Strong systems fundamentals on Linux. Processes, filesystems, boot, storage, networking, systemd.

-Distributed systems judgment. Idempotency, eventual consistency, retries and backoff, clock skew, partial failure.
