Senior Software Engineer
Summary
Senior frontend engineer on Fortunize's technology team, designing and building data-dense, user-facing web apps that support its lending, credit, and investment workflows. Core stack is React, Next.js, and TypeScript, with component-library, performance, accessibility, and testing ownership.
Our technology
team seeks to add an experienced Senior Software Engineer, Frontend, to its
growing ranks. This individual will work as a member of our technology team and
will take the lead in designing and building the user-facing applications that
support our investment strategies.
We are reaching
out to front-end engineers who possess deep expertise in React, Next.js, and
TypeScript, and who have built data-dense business applications, particularly
within the financial services industry.
Requirements
- Lead the design and development of responsive, high-performance web applications supporting our lending, credit, and investment workflows.
- Build and extend a shared component library and design system so interfaces stay consistent, accessible, and quick to assemble as the platform grows.
- Translate complex financial data — portfolios, positions, cash flows, exposures — into clear, information-dense interfaces such as grids, dashboards, and multi-step workflows.
- Partner with backend engineers on API contracts, and with business stakeholders to turn requirements into working software.
- Own front-end quality end to end: state management, client-side performance, cross-browser behavior, accessibility, and automated testing.
- Enable integration of proprietary solutions with third-party vendor solutions.
- Mentor other engineers, establish front-end standards, and raise the bar in code review.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies to continuously enhance our development practices.
- Deep proficiency in React and TypeScript with a proven track record of delivering production applications, including experience with a modern React framework such as Next.js.
- Strong command of modern CSS and layout, and experience working within a component library or design system. Fluency with the discipline matters more to us than any specific library.
- Demonstrated ability to build data-dense interfaces: large tables and grids, filtering and search, charts, complex forms, and long-running workflows.
- Practical experience with state management, data fetching and caching patterns, and front-end performance optimization.
- Working understanding of the backend contract — REST APIs, authentication and authorization — and enough server-side familiarity to collaborate effectively with backend engineers.
- Attention to accessibility, responsive behavior, and cross-browser consistency.
- Exposure to cloud-native development and modern CI/CD practices is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative team environment and provide technical leadership.
- Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills, meticulous attention to detail, maturity, an eye for business, proactivity, and an excellent attitude.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Self-motivation and a willingness to take ownership of projects.
- Outstanding integrity and work ethic.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- 5+ years of progressive experience building web applications, with a significant portion focused on React and TypeScript.
- Experience owning the front-end architecture of a non-trivial application, not only implementing assigned screens.
- Experience in the financial services industry, preferably within a credit or hedge fund.
- Familiarity with accounting or financial reporting systems is preferred.
