Senior Software Engineer

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join one of our top client engagements — a global leader in payments technology — working within an emerging payments technology team in Mexico City. The team researches and develops the next generation of products and services that let consumers transact securely, efficiently, and intelligently across every channel, from traditional retail to mobile and e-commerce.

This is a hands-on engineering role with significant depth in application-layer development and user interface implementation for web and mobile web applications. Working in an Agile environment alongside other engineers and the team's technical lead, you will help shape the future of connected commerce while delivering an exceptional experience to end users.

• Clarify functional product requirements and translate them into well-designed application-layer code.

• Design and implement application and web services logic (REST and SOAP) across multiple products, services, and devices.

• Turn visual designs into functional, high-quality user interfaces for web and mobile web applications.

• Collaborate closely with fellow engineers and the team technical lead within an Agile development methodology.

• Build prototypes and proofs of concept to evaluate new frameworks, technologies, and product ideas.

• Participate in code reviews and help maintain a consistently high standard of code quality across the team.

• Contribute to CI/CD, automated deployment, and other practices that improve the development workflow.

• Work directly with customers, partners, or third-party developers where the engagement requires it.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

• 5+ years of experience translating functional requirements into application-layer code and visual designs into functional user interfaces within web applications.

• Strong Java/J2EE development experience, including the Spring Framework (Spring MVC, Spring Security, Aspects), JPA, JSF, and JUnit.

• Hands-on API development experience with web services (REST and SOAP) and JSON/XML.

• Experience with JBoss, Log4j, Eclipse STS, SQL, and Oracle Database.

• Front-end skills in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, AngularJS, KarmaJS, and jQuery.

• Experience with large-scale software development, with recent coding experience in two or more languages such as Java, JavaScript, Node.js, C#/.NET, C/C++, Python, PHP, Ruby, or Objective-C.

• Solid exposure to Agile development and DevOps practices, including Infrastructure as Code, Continuous Integration, and CI/CD pipelines.

• Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills, with excellent relationship-building, collaboration, and organizational abilities.

• Master's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.

• Test-Driven Development (TDD).

• Experience with JavaScript libraries such as Bootstrap and/or React.js.

• Experience implementing web service security.

• E-commerce experience.

• Native Android and/or iOS app UI implementation.

• Architecting, designing, and developing applications on Pivotal Cloud Foundry (PCF).

• Designing and building applications using container and serverless technologies.

• Architecting highly available systems using load balancing and horizontal scalability.

• Configuration management platforms such as Chef, Puppet, Salt, or Ansible.

• Strong practical development experience on both Linux and Windows-based systems.

• A track record as a developer, architect, product manager, CTO, or consultant across a variety of platforms.

• Presenting at technology conferences, hackathons, or similar public events.
