Role summary Own end-to-end feature delivery across backend services (Java/Node. js/Javascript) and a modern React UI. You’ll define API contracts and data models, harden reliability, and mentor teammates while partnering closely with Product and Design. ● Clear communication and product sense; bias for pragmatic, secure solutions. ● Comfortable with design docs/RFCs, code reviews, cross-functional collaboration. ● Competence with Git, CI/CD, and observability (logs/metrics/traces). ● Sound security hygiene (least privilege, secret management, input validation). ● Thrive in an iterative startup environment with ownership and accountability.
What you’ll do ● Design and build scalable services in Java (SpringBoot) and Node.js /TypeScript with clean REST APIs. ● Lead frontend implementation in React (hooks, routing, state management such as Zustand). ● Shape data models for relational DBs (Postgres/MySQL), including indexing, migrations, and query tuning. ● Establish service patterns: auth (OAuth/JWT), idempotency, retries/backoff, observability, and cost/perf guardrails. ● Raise engineering quality: testing strategies (unit/integration/e2e), CI/CD, code reviews, documentation. ● Collaborate on product discovery; translate user needs into pragmatic technical designs.
What you’ve done ● 5+ years building production systems across Java and JavaScript/TypeScript. ● Delivered API-driven features end-to-end (contract design, versioning, pagination, error models). ● Strong SQL fundamentals (joins, transactions, normalization) and practical ORM experience. ● Solid React fundamentals and API-driven UI development. Nice to have ● AI features in production (LLM tool use, RAG/embeddings, evaluations/guardrails). ● Working knowledge of telephony/voice (Twilio, SIP/WebRTC concepts). ● OpenTelemetry, security hardening, performance budgets, or cost optimization.
Success in 6–12 months ● Reliable services with clear SLOs and meaningful latency/error-budget improvements. ● A shared service/component library and API guidelines that speed up delivery. ● Mentored engineers owning features confidently and shipping with quality.
