Senior software engineer

Our client is seeking an accomplished Senior Software Engineer to join their Pretoria-based development team in a hybrid capacity. This opportunity is ideal for a well-rounded developer with extensive software engineering experience and a strong track record across back-end and full-stack development.

Key Responsibilities Design, develop, maintain and enhance robust software solutions. Contribute to back-end and full-stack development initiatives. Apply sound software engineering principles throughout the development lifecycle. Effectively direct AI coding agents such as Claude Code, Codex and Cursor within the development workflow. Develop and integrate RESTful APIs. Work with relational databases and version-control systems. Troubleshoot and resolve technical challenges efficiently. Collaborate with development teams and stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions. Communicate effectively and contribute proactively to technical discussions and initiatives. Requirements 8+ years of solid software development experience. Strong back-end and full-stack development experience. Strong development experience in at least one of: Java Node JS Type Script Python Practical experience directing AI coding agents as part of the development process. University degree in Computer Science or an equivalent qualification. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and teamwork abilities. A proactive, diligent and self-starting approach. Advantageous Skills AWS experience. Strong understanding of RESTful API development. Git and version-control experience. Knowledge of Postgre SQL, My SQL or other relational databases.
