This is a senior backend engineering role focused on building technology that supports modern healthcare and clinical operations.
You will design reliable services and integrations that connect scheduling platforms, electronic medical records, and other healthcare systems.
The role combines backend engineering, healthcare technology, system integrations, and AI-powered automation.
You will work closely with backend, mobile, AI, and clinical operations teams to streamline workflows and improve the member experience.
Your work will directly contribute to scalable, secure, and compliant systems capable of supporting rapid growth and high transaction volumes.
You will have opportunities to solve complex integration challenges while introducing event-driven architectures and intelligent automation.

Accountabilities:
- Develop, optimize, and maintain backend services using Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, and SQL databases.
- Architect and build scalable integrations with third-party scheduling systems, EMRs, clinical tools, and other healthcare platforms.
- Develop AI-powered tools and agents that automate administrative work, support decision-making, and improve clinical workflows.
- Design reliable, secure, and scalable integrations while incorporating healthcare compliance and security requirements such as HIPAA.
- Implement event-driven architectures that enable seamless and timely communication between systems.
- Build and maintain automated unit and integration testing to ensure code quality, reliability, and maintainability.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize system performance to support rapid organizational growth and high transaction volumes.
- Collaborate with backend, mobile, AI, clinical operations, and other cross-functional teams to understand requirements and improve integration performance.
- Contribute to architectural decisions, technical improvements, and scalable engineering practices across the platform.
- Participate in on-call rotations and take on additional engineering responsibilities as needed.
- Travel regularly to the Menlo Park headquarters for planning workshops, team collaboration, and other in-person sessions.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related STEM field; a Master’s degree is preferred.
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, with strong backend development experience.
- Strong proficiency in Java and hands-on experience developing microservices with Spring Boot.
- Solid understanding of API design and development, including RESTful services, authentication mechanisms such as OAuth and JWT, and third-party API integrations.
- Hands-on experience with SQL databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL, including query optimization.
- Demonstrated experience integrating third-party systems, ideally including healthcare-related platforms and clinical technology.
- Strong understanding of scalable backend architectures, event-driven systems, reliability, security, and performance optimization.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
- Experience working in healthcare, digital health, biosensors, or related fields is a plus but not required.
- Experience developing AI agents or AI-powered engineering solutions is a plus.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, fast-paced environment and take ownership of complex technical problems.
- Must be authorized to work for any employer in the United States; employment visa sponsorship is not currently available.
- Willingness to attend an on-site final interview and travel regularly to Menlo Park, California for team and planning sessions.
- Annual compensation of $175,000–$195,000 USD.
