Position Summary:

Marriott has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Software Engineer I on the Enterprise Product Catalog team. This role is part of the team focused on building and scaling our Product Catalog platform within Enterprise Commerce, powered by Master Data Management (MDM) using STIBO STEP. Appropriate candidates have a passion for product data, data governance, and emerging technologies, with a strong drive to deliver reliable, high-quality catalog solutions.

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer I to build and enhance the Product Catalog platform within Enterprise Commerce, powered by Master Data Management (MDM) using STIBO STEP. This role focuses on designing and delivering scalable catalog and product data solutions that enable Marriott's global eCommerce ecosystem. You will contribute to building robust backend services, integrations, and data workflows that ensure high-quality, consistent, and governed product data across channels such as search, digital storefronts, and partner systems.

You will play a key role in developing scalable services and data workflows, collaborating closely with senior engineers and architects, and applying best practices across development and operations.

The ideal candidate is passionate about solving data and integration challenges at scale, has strong experience with MDM/PIM platforms (STIBO STEP preferred), working knowledge of AWS services, and a keenness to learn and expand into adjacent areas of the Marriott's ecosystem.

Job Responsibilities:

Technical Contributions & Collaboration:

  • Own assigned features and modules across MDM (STIBO STEP), backend services, and integrations.
  • Configure STIBO STEP, including data models, workflows, and business rules.
  • Participate in code reviews and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Support integration with eCommerce platforms and downstream services.
  • Provide guidance to junior developers when needed.

Delivering Technology:

  • Translate business requirements into scalable MDM and integration solutions.
  • Contribute to catalog domain services and data pipelines.
  • Coordinate deployments and production support activities.
  • Identify and communicate risks proactively.

IT Governance:

  • Follow IT standards, architecture, and governance processes.
  • Ensure compliance with data governance and security practices.

Skills and Experience:

Backend & MDM:

  • 46 years of experience in software development.
  • 3+ years of experience in MDM/PIM (STIBO STEP preferred).
  • Proficiency in Java, Spring Boot, microservices, and REST APIs.
  • Strong understanding of data modeling and taxonomy concepts.

Cloud & DevOps:

  • Experience with AWS, CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Harness), Docker, and Kubernetes.
  • Experience with monitoring tools such as Dynatrace.

Commerce Engineering:

  • Experience working with eCommerce or digital commerce platforms.

Security & Quality:

  • Knowledge of API security concepts (OAuth2, JWT).
  • Familiarity with OWASP security practices and secure coding standards.
  • Experience with unit testing (JUnit, Mockito) and integration testing.
  • Experience with Swagger/OpenAPI for API documentation.
  • Exposure to code quality tools such as SonarQube.

General:

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to write technical documentation (design documents, API specifications, runbooks).
  • Experience working in Agile development environments with onshore-offshore teams.
  • Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills across distributed systems.

Education and Certifications:

Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
