Senior Software Engineer I - Platform Engineering

Role Overview

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer I - Platform Engineering to take a leading hands-on role in extending Aurigo DevHub. You will design and build new Backstage plugins, harden the platform on AWS EKS, modernize our CI/CD on GitHub Actions, and shape the golden paths that every Aurigo engineer uses to ship.

You should be equally comfortable writing production Node.js plugin code, debugging a React component in the Backstage frontend, authoring a reusable GitHub Actions workflow, and writing the Terraform that puts it all on EKS. You like solving problems for other engineers, not just for one team.

Key Responsibilities

• Build Backstage plugins for developer productivity, security, FinOps, and AI capabilities.
• Extend DevHub using Node.js, APIs, PostgreSQL, and system integrations.
• Create golden paths for CI/CD, deployment, observability, and security.
• Own DevHub on AWS EKS, including Helm, GitOps, reliability, and cost optimization.
• Modernize CI/CD using GitHub Actions and GitHub Enterprise.
• Integrate AI developer tooling, including MCP servers, prompt libraries, and governance.
• Drive platform excellence through SLOs, DORA/SPACE metrics, code reviews, and engineering mentorship.

Requirements

Candidate Profile

• 6+ years in software engineering, including 2+ years in platform engineering or developer tooling.
• Hands-on Backstage plugin development and deployment experience.
• Strong Node.js/TypeScript, React, and PostgreSQL skills.
• Experience with GitHub Enterprise, GitHub Actions, and AWS.
• Hands-on EKS, Helm, Kustomize, and ArgoCD/FluxCD experience.
• Strong technical documentation and communication skills.
• B.E./B.Tech/M.Tech or any equivalent relevant qualification

Preferred Experience

• Backstage at scale or open-source contributions , Terraform and policy-as-code.
• OpenTelemetry and GitOps , AI coding assistants such as GitHub Copilot, Claude, or Cursor.
