About the role:

This position is performed by an experienced professional and will undertake difficult research, design and software development assignments within a software functional area or product line, and provides direct input to project plans, schedules and methodology in the development of cross-functional software products under the guidance of more senior members of the squad. This position performs software design - typically across multiple components; is developing the skills of mentoring more junior members of the team and works with others to talk to users/customers and translates their requests into solutions.

What you will be doing

• Design, build and maintain high-quality software within your product or service area.
• Produce clear technical design documentation aligned to RX architecture principles and engineering standards.
• Build secure, resilient, observable and maintainable systems with solid foundations in performance, extensibility and reliability.
• Apply testing strategies that improve deployment confidence and support safe, predictable delivery.
• Make pragmatic trade-offs between speed, quality and maintainability within defined constraints.
• Solve moderately complex technical problems with practical, well-reasoned solutions.
• Take responsibility for the operational health of components within your scope, including monitoring, logging, incident response and post-mortem actions.
• Maintain runbooks, operational documentation and knowledge-sharing material.
• Work closely with Product and stakeholders to align technical solutions to user, customer and business outcomes.
• Reduce technical debt in assigned areas to improve stability, maintainability and delivery efficiency.
• Share knowledge with peers and mentor less-experienced engineers through code reviews, pairing and constructive feedback.

What we are looking for

• Typically 4+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Experience delivering large, complex, global or multi-tenant production systems across multiple components.
• Ability to translate ambiguous requirements into scalable, incremental technical solutions.
• Experience working in Agile, cross-functional product development teams.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical topics clearly to engineers and immediate stakeholders.
• Good ownership of production components, including reliability, observability, incident response and continuous improvement.
• A collaborative approach, with a track record of improving team engineering practices and supporting others.

Technical skills

• Strong proficiency in C# (.NET), JavaScript/TypeScript (React) and SQL (PostgreSQL).
• Strong system design skills, including SOLID principles, design patterns, API design, domain-driven design and event-driven architectures.
• Experience designing and building modern web applications using React, Vite, REST.
• Experience building and operating cloud-native applications on AWS, including services such as EC2, Lambda, S3, SNS, SQS and Elastic Beanstalk.
• Experience with testing practices, DevSecOps, CI/CD, GitHub Actions and Secure SDLC.
• Experience using observability and analytics tools such as Splunk and Mixpanel.
• Proficiency or strong interest in AI-assisted development using tools such as GitHub Copilot, Amazon Bedrock and agentic AI workflows.
