Overview

SENIOR SOFTWARE ENGINEER, iOS – Current is a leading consumer fintech platform transforming financial access for everyday Americans with over 6 million members. Based in NYC, we build native mobile experiences using Kotlin/Swift with a focus on performance and intuitive design. The mobile apps connect to our proprietary backend banking core via gRPC. This role focuses on delivering high-quality iOS experiences in a fast-paced environment where your work has a direct impact on our members’ financial outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Be part of a small, nimble mobile engineering team working closely with product, design, and backend engineering to enable end-to-end user experiences
  • Own the end-to-end delivery of key business initiatives from discovery through system design to feature launch
  • Build and maintain scalable, reusable mobile frameworks to improve code consistency and engineering velocity
  • Help evolve engineering standards by improving architecture, testing, and monitoring practices
  • Enable Current’s members to build better financial futures through products like Paycheck Advance, Build Card, and Savings Pods
  • Engage in a strong culture of code and architecture review

Qualifications

  • Expertise in Swift and familiarity with the latest features including the new Concurrency model
  • Solid understanding of iOS fundamentals including app states, memory management, dependency injection, multi-threading, and persistence
  • Experience with modularized app architecture, following MVC, unidirectional data flows, and the Coordinator design pattern
  • Proficiency in building complex, responsive user interfaces and smooth screen transitions in a native iOS codebase (UIKit)
  • Have published and maintained apps on the App Store
  • Genuine interest in the personal finance space

  • Experience using Instruments to profile and optimize app performance
  • Experience with gRPC and Protobuf schemas for networking
  • Experience building highly secure iOS apps
  • Experience working on a team building platform components
