The role combines hands-on backend development with technical design, testing, troubleshooting, and continuous optimization.
You will work with modern technologies including Java 21, Spring Boot, microservices, Redis, relational databases, and NoSQL platforms.
Your understanding of telecom protocols and legacy systems will help bridge established technologies with modern architectures.
Working in an agile, globally distributed environment, you will collaborate closely with engineers, designers, technical leads, and stakeholders.
You will have significant ownership of projects, from requirements and architecture through implementation, testing, and successful launch.
Accountabilities:
- Design, develop, test, and maintain high-volume, highly available Java applications that are performant, scalable, secure, maintainable, and production-ready.
- Take ownership of technical solutions from requirements analysis and design through coding, implementation, testing, troubleshooting, documentation, and deployment.
- Develop backend and microservices-based applications using Java 21, Spring Boot, ORM technologies, Redis/Redisson, and related frameworks.
- Apply strong engineering practices around exception handling, data structures, multithreading, memory management, application tuning, and performance optimization.
- Work with Oracle, PostgreSQL, and NoSQL databases, developing queries and supporting efficient data access and storage strategies.
- Understand and work with telecommunications protocols such as SS7 and Diameter, while contributing to systems that may interact with legacy C++ components.
- Build comprehensive unit and characterization tests to maintain software quality and reliability.
- Collaborate with technical leads, engineers, designers, and managers to understand user and business needs and translate them into effective technical solutions.
- Participate actively in Agile ceremonies, including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives, estimation, status reporting, and project governance.
- Identify project risks, contribute to process improvements, and work closely with technical leadership to support successful delivery.
- Maintain technical and functional documentation while ensuring adherence to established development methodologies and quality standards.
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, with strong expertise in Java and enterprise application development.
- Advanced hands-on experience with Java 21, Spring Boot, microservices, multithreaded applications, and large-scale/high-availability systems.
- Strong knowledge of Spring, Hibernate/ORM technologies, Apache-based Java frameworks, and modern backend development practices.
- Practical experience with Redis/Redisson, Oracle, PostgreSQL, NoSQL databases, SQL queries, joins, views, grouping, and related data concepts.
- Understanding of telecom protocols such as SS7 and Diameter, with the ability to work effectively within telecommunications-oriented systems.
- Working knowledge of C++ to understand and integrate with legacy systems.
- Strong understanding of object-oriented programming, including inheritance, polymorphism, classes, instances, and properties.
- Proven experience with unit testing, characterization testing, debugging, problem analysis, resolution, and application performance tuning.
- Experience developing software systems of medium-to-large scope and complexity, including scalable frontend/backend applications.
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies, SDLC practices, source control tools, HTTP, JSON, XML, and document databases.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, ownership, and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with technical leads and distributed teams.
- Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal.
