About The Role
We are looking for an experienced Senior Backend Engineer specialising in Java to join a high-performing engineering team within a fast-paced technology company based in Dublin City Centre.
You’ll play a key role in designing, developing and delivering scalable backend services and APIs, working closely with other engineers, product managers and technical stakeholders. This is a hands‑on position suited to someone who enjoys solving complex technical problems and contributing to engineering best practices.
The initial contract is for 6 months on a rolling basis, with the expectation of ongoing collaboration subject to business requirements and performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop and maintain robust, scalable backend services using Java and modern backend technologies.
- Build and maintain RESTful APIs and distributed services.
- Contribute to architectural and technical design decisions.
- Write clean, maintainable and well-tested code.
- Work closely with frontend engineers, product managers, QA and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality products.
- Identify and resolve performance, scalability and reliability issues.
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to engineering standards and best practices.
- Support automated testing, CI/CD and deployment processes.
- Troubleshoot production issues and contribute to root‑cause analysis.
- Mentor and support less experienced engineers where appropriate.
- Contribute to an Agile/Scrum development environment.
