About the Role

Our client, a prominent player in the enterprise software solutions sector, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer with extensive experience in Java and the Spring framework to join their dedicated team in Randburg, Gauteng. This is a critical on-site role focused on designing, developing, and maintaining complex, high-performance enterprise applications. You will be instrumental in driving innovation, ensuring code quality, and contributing to the architectural direction of their software products. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and implement robust, scalable, and efficient backend services and applications using Java and the Spring framework. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, frontend developers, and QA engineers, to deliver high-quality software solutions. Write clean, well-documented, and maintainable code following best practices and coding standards. Develop and maintain RESTful APIs for seamless integration with other systems. Participate in code reviews, providing constructive feedback to peers and ensuring code quality. Troubleshoot and debug complex software issues, identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks. Contribute to architectural design discussions and technical roadmap planning. Ensure the performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications. Stay up-to-date with the latest Java technologies, frameworks, and industry best practices. Mentor junior engineers and share technical expertise within the team. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. 5+ years of professional software development experience, with a strong focus on Java and the Spring ecosystem (Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Data). Proficiency in object-oriented programming principles and design patterns. Experience in developing and consuming RESTful web services. Strong understanding of database technologies (e.g., SQL, Postgre SQL, Oracle) and ORM frameworks (e.g., Hibernate, JPA). Familiarity with build tools (e.g., Maven, Gradle) and version control systems (e.g., Git). Experience with unit testing and integration testing frameworks (e.g., JUnit, Mockito). Knowledge of microservices architecture is a plus. Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and debugging skills.
