Senior Software Engineer

Summary

Build full-stack healthcare applications using React, Python (FastAPI), and cloud infrastructure, collaborating with AI/ML teams to improve accessibility and effectiveness in healthcare.

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Software Engineer based in United States.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will build and evolve high-impact healthcare applications across the full technology stack.
You will take ownership of projects from initial design through delivery, iteration, and long-term improvement.
The role combines frontend, backend, cloud infrastructure, data, and AI/ML technologies in a highly collaborative environment.
You will work alongside software engineers, machine learning researchers, physicians, product managers, and UX researchers to solve complex problems.
You will also influence architectural decisions, establish strong engineering practices, and help elevate the technical capabilities of the broader team.
This is an opportunity to contribute directly to technology designed to make healthcare more accessible, affordable, and effective.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on engineer who enjoys autonomy, technical ownership, and solving meaningful problems at scale.

Accountabilities

  • Drive high-impact software projects across the full stack, taking ownership from technical design and implementation through delivery, iteration, and continued improvement.
  • Develop new user-facing features and enhance existing applications using modern frontend and backend technologies.
  • Build and maintain React applications, including components, hooks, state management, performance optimization, and reusable patterns.
  • Develop backend services and APIs using Python and asynchronous frameworks such as FastAPI or Starlette.
  • Collaborate with backend engineers to establish consistent APIs and effective patterns for frontend-to-backend interactions.
  • Lead and guide cross-team architectural decisions, helping define scalable application and system designs.
  • Produce detailed technical specifications, architectural documentation, and implementation plans for new features.
  • Design and work with both relational and NoSQL databases, selecting appropriate technologies and data models based on application access patterns.
  • Develop reliable asynchronous workflows involving background jobs, retries, idempotency, and eventual consistency.
  • Build comprehensive unit, integration, and end-to-end testing strategies, including automated and visual regression testing where appropriate.
  • Contribute to continuous delivery practices and CI pipelines that enable teams to release frequently and confidently.
  • Collaborate with product owners, AI/ML researchers, physicians, UX researchers, and other stakeholders to define, estimate, prioritize, and deliver features using Agile practices.
  • Share technical expertise with colleagues and help strengthen engineering practices across areas such as API design, system architecture, cloud infrastructure, healthcare data, and application development.
  • Requirements

    • 5–7 years of professional experience as a full-stack software engineer with ownership of features from design through delivery and continued iteration.
    • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field preferred.
    • Strong professional experience with React, including components, hooks, state management, and performance optimization.
    • Professional Python backend development experience, ideally using asynchronous frameworks such as FastAPI or Starlette.
    • Experience working with both relational and NoSQL databases, with the ability to select and model technologies according to application access patterns.
    • Strong understanding of asynchronous workflows, including background processing, retries, idempotency, and eventual consistency.
    • Demonstrated ability to use automated testing to improve product quality, including end-to-end coverage, visual regression testing, and CI-based validation.
    • Understanding of modern cloud and application infrastructure, including AWS, Docker, Terraform, Git, RESTful services, and AI/ML technologies.
    • Strong architectural thinking and the ability to make effective technical decisions across teams and systems.
    • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
    • Comfortable working autonomously while contributing to a highly collaborative, multidisciplinary engineering environment.
    • Experience with React Native, Expo, or other cross-platform mobile technologies is a plus.
    • Familiarity with Storybook, visual or snapshot regression testing, harness engineering, or design systems is advantageous.
    • Knowledge of accessibility standards such as WCAG and experience with screen readers is a plus.
    • Experience developing LLM-powered applications, including streaming, tool calling, and evaluation-driven iteration, is beneficial.
    • Familiarity with Temporal or other durable execution systems is helpful.
    • Experience working with healthcare data standards such as CDA, CCD, or FHIR is a strong advantage.
    • Benefits

      • Competitive annual salary of $170,000–$210,000, with actual compensation determined by qualifications and relevant experience.
      • 100% remote work-from-home environment.
      • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage.
      • Flexible spending plans.
      • Responsible Vacation Policy.
      • 401(k) plan with employer matching.
      • Opportunity to work on a mission-driven product focused on improving access, affordability, and effectiveness in healthcare.
      • Collaborative environment with experienced colleagues across software engineering, AI/ML, medicine, product, and UX.
      • Opportunities to take ownership of architecture, technical initiatives, and high-impact projects while continuously developing your skills.
