We’re looking for a senior software engineer to work across a large family of internally developed software solutions supporting market data ingestion, transformation, validation, documentation, and serving. This role is for someone who can operate across Java services and libraries, SQL Server–backed workflows, file-based processing, and vendor integrations while also helping modernize the platform for the future.
This is a high-impact role for an engineer who can quickly understand complex legacy systems, improve them safely, and help shape the next generation of the platform.
What you’ll work on
Java-based libraries, services, utilities, and webapps
SQL Server–backed workflows and data structures
Linux file-system-driven ingestion, transformation, and distribution pipelines
Integration with vendors such as:
Refinitiv
Bloomberg
Haver
S&P
MSCI
and other market data providers
Market data documentation and serving platforms
Batch jobs, loaders, updaters, validators, and scheduler-driven workflows
Shared framework code used across multiple repositories and product areas
Formula engines / rule systems / proprietary DSL-style code
Webservices and webapps for data access and operations
Test/support projects that protect business-critical data logic
Responsibilities
Lead development across Java services, libraries, and applications
Drive improvements to data ingestion, validation, and serving workflows
Work with SQL Server schemas and operational databases
Integrate vendor feeds and normalize market/reference data
Debug difficult production issues across code, data, and infrastructure boundaries
Refactor legacy systems safely
Improve automated testing around parsing, calculations, and data correctness
Help modernize platform architecture and technical practices
Support market data ingestion and serving to client-facing processes
Document key systems and processes
Differentiating qualifications
Experience with market data systems is a major differentiator, especially with:
timeseries data
membership sets / constituent sets
vendor data normalization and survivorship
data history, revisions, and point-in-time correctness
market data reference models and derived datasets
platform support for both commercial and internal data products
Required qualifications
Extensive software engineering experience, with the competence expected of a very senior engineer
Strong Java development background
Experience in production systems involving databases and file-based workflows
Familiarity with SQL Server or similar relational databases
Experience with backend data pipelines, loaders, or integration platforms
Strong debugging, system design, and problem-solving skills
Ability to work effectively across multiple repositories and shared libraries
Excellent communication and ownership
Preferred qualifications
Deep experience with market data platforms
Strong background in timeseries data and membership set / constituent data
Familiarity with Refinitiv, Bloomberg, Haver, FactSet, Markit, MSCI, or similar vendor ecosystems
Experience with data lake architectures
Experience modernizing legacy Java or database-heavy systems
Experience with formula engines, rule processing, or internal DSLs
Experience supporting both internal tooling and commercial data products
Forward-looking qualifications
We want this role to help evolve the platform toward:
Data lake–oriented ingestion and storage
Improved documentation and serving capabilities
More modular and automated ingestion pipelines
Stronger test coverage and validation of complex data logic
Interfacing with AI platforms as a source of market data
Support for both open-source-style and commercial platform components where applicable, including:
Apache Polaris or similar catalog and governance
Apache Airflow or similar orchestration platforms
OpenMetadata or similar data discovery, observation, governance platforms
What success looks like
You make complex changes safely in a production platform
You bring clarity to hard market-data problems
You improve the reliability and maintainability of critical data systems
